We know that they are almost certainly coming once more.
Now while it might be that they will be a repeat of last years or the second anniversary, it doesn't seem too likely. So, what could they be themed as for this year?
Given that the first time was the Flagships (and the 2409 expansion of both faction's ship lineup later that year); and the second time around was themed around the Romulans, and their influence on both faction's history, what do we have going on right now in the game, or somewhat in the future that would be a possible 'theme' for this year's ships?
We know that Cryptic likes to generally keep the ships equal in performance and design specs (if only for saving them headaches), so what would equal out Federation, Romulan, and KDF shipbuilding techniques and preferences into a relatively coherent set of stats? Especially, what would do that and themeatically fit into Cryptic's known and stated expansion plans for later this year?
Well, what we may see is an exploratory vessel, a science ship designed for extreme long-range surveys. Possibly cloaking across the entire line, seeing as the obvious and immediate answer is that they will be exploring the Delta Quadrant in search of answers as to what is motivating the Borg into their rampage, what is eating at the Voth, and further searching for Elachi bases and the Iconian presence.
So, likely such a vessel would be equipped with an Advanced Slipstream, possibly a non-standard weapons layout (4/2 on a sci vessel?), cloak/cloak synergy, and a high turn/impulse modifier to get it out of danger quickly.
But I might be wrong.
So, STO'ers, what are your predictions as to what the anniversary ships will be?
Good question. I heard rumors that Cryptic wanted to add the Constellation class as a ship to the game and could imagine them doing it similarly to how they added the Ambassador last time.
Now the question is: If it really is the Constellation, will she be a science or cruiser vessel?
It would kinda fit both. She could be a hybrid vessel like the Nebula.
As for the other factions, I have no idea. It would be kinda nice if everyone would get ships vastly different from the ones the other factions get, but I think that is unlikely.
So my guess is:
Constellation cruiser or science vessel for Federation. Base version tier II or III with a tier V retrofit event version and a later fleet retrofit one.
I don't know what the others might get. There aren't any canon KDF or Romulan ships coming to my mind that are still missing. I heard Cryptic said no I to a K'Vort I believe, so thats probably not it.

Cryptic has never done a canon KDF ship for an anniversary ship.
Something less combat oriented, and more exploration focused. Perhaps a diplomatic ship Or a colony vessel - or better yet - a trade vessel. Fewer abilities of the lockbox ship (cause it's free), but something with a decent skin all factions might be seen using.
TNG had many examples, all available within the IP.
To me the likely candidates for the Federation is the Consellation or the Dauntless (I recall talks in podcasts mentioning this ship a few times, which means it's likely to be out soon).
It takes more than a month to make a playable ship, so whatever we're getting must be well on its way. There aren't a lot of Fed and KDF canon ships left:
K'vort - grossly oversized B'rel
Constellation - old and pretty ugly
Miranda variants (like the Soyuz) - also old and small
New Orleans - undersized Galaxy kitbash
Any other Wolf 359 graveyard ships
Godawful DS9 war kitbashes
I think the K'tanco was intended to be a substitute for the K'vort. I suppose a T5 version of it is possible, as a fleet ship, but unlikely to be given away for free.
The Constellation and Miranda variants will never exist as T5 ships. The kitbashes are mostly terrible. New Orleans is the least terrible of them remaining and is a possibility. It's no worse a kitbash than the Centaur or the Cheyenne.
Or they could make something new and original, but in that case there's little point in speculating.
We may as well discuss what Party Popper #4 will shoot.
Cryptic will finally get to the point when they have too many mini-factions to make one for each faction for each anniversary. These are free ships so it is not likely they will create 3 or more free ships. So either they will have to do something like the Odyssey where it is a preview of a C-Store ship or just do cross-faction ships.
How about a Science ship for the anniversary event...
Fed's have an equivalent to every type of KDF ship there is. SO, we KDF types have been asking for a KDF Science cruiser for a long long time. (of course we do want one that reflects our "offensive" mind set. Anniversary would be a good time to kick one out. And heck, the Feds could use a new sci ship too...
do something different... instead of a 3/3 weapons layout for a SCI ship do a 4/2 layout... Scary no?
Of course, it could be cryptic might pop out the ever talked about "Broadside" cruiser... (in reality a Battleship) and we KDF could get with that...
Helpful hint: don't need new threads for topics that exist and are currently being used
Thank you.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

How many factions are you expecting them to make exactly?
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power
the dauntless was pure fiction and a ruse. it's very certain the only thing they know about the dauntless is from voyager's databanks.
m hoping the anni ship is a limited time t5 miranda cruiser xD
In Enterprise, when Archer gets transported to the future aboard the Enterprise J, a Dauntless class ship supposedly can be seen in battle.
I honestly can't tell myself, but the internets seem pretty insistant that this blur is a Dauntless class ship- so there is evidence that the Federation will eventually use the design.
A mix of Galaxy and Souvereign actually, although i have to say, it looks pretty nice, would be welcoming it maybe as some kinda Assault-Galaxy-Cruiser? ;P

that future may or may not exist in that way, thats the thing with bringing people from the past to the future and back again. the sphere builders were taken out the picture by archer anyways, they may not return at all.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

While I must say that it looks really nice, if Cryptic were to use it they would have to jump through the same legal hoops they did with the Vesta-class. Mainly because I assume it's a fan design.

It's been pretty long around IMO, but i never liked that ship much.
Its design takes away the majesty of the Galaxy Class (wideness) and makes it too much sovereign like (streched). It's more like a backstep than a step forward, just as the sovereign was IMO.
Not my cup of tea, really.
I rather hope they will add some thing unexpected, like a T5 JJ enterprise or a alternative Costume for the Odyssey.

Well... They're not dead. So I'm betting on their eventual return, maybe not this century, but eventually.

They come from another dimension so they probably just decided to go after easier targets. Not every universe has a Federation or some Empire that can defend against them. After all, the Parallels episode from TNG showed a few universes that had the Federation devastated or destroyed by the Borg. Although, there are better options where the Federation was never formed and there is no real threat by any of the inhabitants.
For cross faction purposes I'd imagine the alien "Dauntless" ship belonging to Species 116, that looked like a Starfleet vessel, would be likely. The ship would come with its own unique item slot; the Particle Synthesis Generator. So, it'd have a standard base alien look to it, but then each faction would get a unique generator when claiming it, making the ship appear like a vessel belonging to their own faction.
Then you could have other non-faction specific generators released via Lock Boxes, as well as from the Lobi Store, and as future Featured Episode mission rewards. Potentially you could have a new module for each NPC faction you come across.

Given the amount of time it took to build the comparatively minor Delphic Expanse and that it was barely beginning to become habitable by the time Enterprise got there my guess would be another 2,000 years or so.:)
Can anyone make out the ship silhouette in the HUD on the screen projected on the wall? I know the Bortas looks like it's taking center stage but the silhouette is definitely not the Bortas. The HUD is red themed which suggests KDF but I dunno.
Also, tentacles?

thats the bortas ive seen its backside enough in this game to know, along with shape similar to the terran starcraft battleship. the man in that dark blue green tee' is that a constellation? :P
