Ideas for Missions

Put more "Science" into our science player-character field

We need more science missions: Here's an idea for one.

With the loss of our homeworld (and some colonies thanks to the Tal'Shiar), we lost more than just family and a link to our ancestral heritage. We also lost the plant diversity which was the foundation of our biomedical research to come up with cures and health treatments. I would like to see player-content (or duty-officer) missions which would survey new planets for plants that could be researched for use as food or new medicines. There should also be small research camps (or stations?) on different worlds so that our scientists could stay while being close to their work. I would also like to ask that there be usable science equipment in the science lab. Being a science character, I would like to assist the effort with a microscope, a biology libary (even if it's only a dictionary) to compare my findings with existing data. Something to help put more "science" back into the science field.

Would like to bring back a sample of new plants when we visit a new planet, to allow our ship's botanists and biologists to research them more fully. Perhaps to find a plant or fungus that could one day become a cure for borg-breath. I hear it's becoming an epidemic. And I am a fan of having a display case to show off unique rocks or plants that we have come across in our diverse travels. The ship's cafeteria has a trophy wall, not sure how the different trophies actually get there, but would like to collect stuff for myself.

Something to think about.

Another idea, Is the Federation still doing research-based trips through the Bajoran wormhole into the Delta Quadrant, and can we join?

I'm not sure if this is a joke or serious.

You are more than welcome to create such missions with the Foundry. Perhaps you might get lucky and they will make it into an official mission.

no, it's an actual idea. I've just completed a biodiversity study of Risa and catalogued different plant species and wildlife.

I'd actually like to do more than just catalog stuff. Would like to use equpment like a microscope, a tricorder that actually does something.. or have a skill that would be something other than as an attack/defense benefit. Perhaps a tricorder skill in biology, geology, etc? I'm planning a field study on New Romulus here pretty soon, would like help if anyone is interested. I don't think there's been one done, to catalog the different plant and wildlife there.

I really enjoyed your report. Although the Sentinel is on deep space assignment and won't be able to help, I look forward to reading the new Romulus results. I'm not sure how often I can be in game, or even if I will be able to help, but I'd be interested if there is something I can do to help. This sounds very trek.

A Romulan Strike Team, Missing Farmers and an ancient base on a Klingon Border world. But what connects them? Find out in my First Foundary mission: 'The Jeroan Farmer Escapade'

Actually that sounds interesting. Combat missions are a fun way to play on the ground and in the space, but misions, where would be some science stuff sounds tempting. Analysing in laboratoties some data and gathering samples in friendly envionmnet that gives XP would be fun also. A small break from fighting stuff. :)
When You observe, learn from it.

I like this idea immensely. In fact, I would very much enjoy a mission on ch'Mol'Rihan to catalogue all of the flora and fauna species that goes into much greater detail than our current New Romulus missions, where we actually learn the common and scientific names of all the species and how they relate to one another (genus, family, phylum, etc). But then, I'm uncommon.

Don't see why you can't create a foundry mission along these lines... you'll be somewhat limited in being able to use certain equipment... but if you make it, it gets a lot of play... who knows... might push the dev's into making something.

Star Trek Online, Now with out the Trek....
