Just for a little fun......

Which player archetype do you think you fit in?
I'm a bit of a Johnny/Spike, I guess.
Quick Reference:
Timmy:
Timmy is what we in R&D call the "power gamer." Timmy likes to win big. He doesn?t want to eke out a last minute victory. Timmy wants to smash his opponents. He likes his cards to be impressive, and he enjoys playing big creatures and big spells.
Timmy cares more about the quality of his win than the quantity of his wins. For example, Timmy sits down and plays ten games. He only wins three games out of ten but the three he wins, he dominates his opponent. Timmy had fun. Timmy walks away happy.
Johnny:
Johnny is the creative gamer to whom Magic is a form of self-expression. Johnny likes to win, but he wants to win with style. It?s very important to Johnny that he win on his own terms. As such, it?s important to Johnny that he?s using his own deck. Playing Magic is an opportunity for Johnny to show off his creativity.
Johnny likes a challenge. Johnny enjoys winning with cards that no one else wants to use. He likes making decks that win in innovative ways. What sets Johnny apart from the other profiles is that Johnny enjoys deckbuilding as much as (or more than) he enjoys playing. Johnny loves the cool interactions of the cards. He loves combo decks. Johnny is happiest when he?s exploring uncharted territory.
Like Timmy, Johnny cares more about the quality of his wins than the quantity. For example, let's say Johnny builds a new deck that has a neat but difficult way to win. He plays ten games and manages to get his deck to do its thing? once. Johnny walks away happy.
Spike:
Spike is the competitive player. Spike plays to win. Spike enjoys winning. To accomplish this, Spike will play whatever the best deck is. Spike will copy decks off the Internet. Spike will borrow other players? decks. To Spike, the thrill of Magic is the adrenalin rush of competition. Spike enjoys the stimulation of outplaying the opponent and the glory of victory.
Spike cares more about the quantity of wins than the quality. For example, Spike plays ten games and wins nine of them. If Spike feels he should have won the tenth, he walks away unhappy.
P.S. Hybrids do exist!

I definitely fall under the "Johnny" archetype. I spend as much time (if not more) making builds and designing setups for PvP as I do actually playing PvP. I enjoy experimenting with different duty officer, kit, and gear setups. I enjoy winning, but I don't want to win using things that I consider to be broken (example: I don't use Cryo Immobilizer Module). When I do use things I consider broken, the victory feels hollow and unsatisfying.

Though for me, it's more a case of looking at stuff that is generally ignored by most players and thinking of ways to make it worth while, and heck, maybe the devs will notice. But not so much about winning necessarily. See my threads on:
Single Cannons
Photonic Officer
EWS modifier on the Elite Warp Cores
And probably other stuff in the future.
I like to have more unique stylish builds, but I am more happy when I win vs when I get roffle Stompped. Though usually those Roffle Stomps will eventually make me take a hard look at my build and start to tweek it further while getting advice from my better peers.
Think about this:

Unfortunately, the Tachyon Beam duty officer is cleared by almost every cleanse imaginable as I recall. Attack Pattern Omega, Science Team, Auxiliary to Inertial Dampers, the Warp Core Engineer, and I believe Hazard Emitters. It's pointless with everyone chaining Auxiliary to Inertial Damper + Attack Pattern Omega for 150% uptime on control immunity anyway.

But only Johnny to the extent I feel certain powers are out of bounds due to their design (it's a small, but reasonable list).
Could in fact be why you are a designer.
Even maining an engineer, I can't work THAT good of a miracle.
Hmm, if only Tachyon Beam was 360 arc the way siphon was - we'd probably see it a little more often then.
That aside, it appears that STO lends itself very well to the Johnny mindset - a lot of stuff to tinker with, although it's not all good.
