well ill tell you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! look people don't disappear every 3 secs................
found this on youtube. its a vid of my friend zryo playing with broken tbr. besides the fact that tbr was insane at this point, it made me miss the old days of pvp. our complaints back then was ams and runabouts. yes i miss thoes days. no rejected rep system, no constant grinding just to be on par on pvp. (well we did need to grind out EDC's for borg gear) but our va toons were pvp ready in a day.

well..............grind grind grind. its so stupid. if you take a year break we are lost and cant compete in pvp. these are the days when the only toons you should make are roms. yes ROMS!!!!! everything else is out classed. just look at how the best player in sto lost to a rom. yoda's vanilla toon was out classed becaused he 1v1 against a rom. bit sad really.

rant off. but yes back then sto was less grindy and making a new toon was not so bad.

Dont know about other stuf you said but with rep sponsorship tokens you can now max new toon in 25 days ( 5 days to get it to lvl50 ) and with Dyson rep boxes it can be reasonably geared when you finish. After you get to LvL 50 you need to play about 1-2h daily to fill all reps ( 1 estf , 1 CE , 5min flying around for Dyson, and Tau D daily till you get first Epoh , do 1 Foundry grinder for EC expenses)

    Its not thaaat bad :)

I remember that match i think i was the only klink in there.

But seriously after rewatching the video, it made me think about all the fun matches people had in the days before rep grind....seems a bit of a shame where pvp has headed since.

I dunno with fleet gear and stuff you can have a PvP capable toon in maybe a month or two. Less if you already have the doffs or established characters/resources to help outfit them.

Not gonna say it's super easy but the sponsorship helps a lot with alts. Sucks for first timers though.

Before someone mentions fleets and that grind, many established fleets are done with the grind now (except dyson) and it's never been easier to get accx2 weapons in whatever flavour you want. Ships might be more but really there are fleets out there that will even let you buy a ship for free so long as you're not an a**hole.

As for the OP though, yeah I used to PvP, left probably a few months before that video was shot. About when fleet starbases came out and it became apparent the best stuff would be in that. Was sorta balanced in gear when endgame options were one of 3-4 sets and that's more or less it and not universal consoles galore.

It is through repetition that we learn our weakness.
A master with a stone is better than a novice with a sword.

Has damage got out of control?
This is the last thing I will post.

my whole point really is how bad this rep system got. back then when we got edc, we got our borg 2 piece and maco shild in one day. really no need for mk12 maco but it was the only steady grind we needed. when making va we got our ec for accx3.

now its grind for ec, grind for fleet marks, grind for omega mk12 gear, grind out full rep for everything else. then hit pvp and everyone is getting placated by t4. it was sad to watch that vid. the old days are gone. really was ALOT less cheese back then. the truth is sto is not made for pvp. but the devs could atleast tighten up player spec to resist some of the rep system. most things can be speced against. the biggest issue atm is how roms out class the old toons, rom bo out class the old toon and nuke t4. nuke t4 cant be speced for, or against. either way i did move on. i became a casual pve'er and droped pvp. its partly cryptics fault. its also my fault for having higher expectations.
