i want to buy sometime an odyssey ship and there are the 3 pack in the c-store and the fleet version, from their stats i have seen that there isn't that much difference in the 4 ships except one more or less eng, sci or tac console the bonus that each one has depending on the class bonus to subsystem, sensor scan etc and the ensign universal, so i am wondering sould i buy the 3 pack for the consoles ? are they good ? should i buy the tac one because it is more balanced or buy the fleet one ?
The 3 pack are the "fleet versions" in that they have an extra console and more hull.
The one in the fleet store was free at one point...like how the obelisk is. It is cheaper in that it is just 200k fleet credits....not much for some people anyway.
The consoles are poor, the ship itself is considered poor. But if you dig it...do the tactical one. best bang for buck.
The Sci one's a pretty solid contender, actually. Sensor Analysis and a slight edge on tankiness can't be beaten.
I've seen the math on this. The only way SA helps is if you have a solid, unbroken sensor lock on a target for something like a minute, and even then the edge is pretty marginal and you have to keep firing on them. Otherwise the additional tactical console, if used properly, gives you more (literal) bang for your buck.
That said, although some swear by it, the Aquarius in my opinion is a flying coffin, whereas the Work Bees offer the interesting ability of being deployed at 15 KM away from the target and act as a good emergency self-repair if it really comes down to it.
OP, others will disagree with me, but IMO the best combination is the saucer separation console on the tactical ship, with the other two consoles being helpful but unnecessary, but with the Work Bees probably being the console to get if you put on 2 Ody consoles. While the Ody is effective, it is not considered as effective as a number of other cruisers in the game, so while it's a good ship, and it's probably the most versatile cruiser with its BOff seating, it's not considered a real contender for the title of "most effective" cruiser, particularly among the tactical cruisers available.
