1.) "They're Entering The Final Stretch!"
Hmm, no. If you look at the
map, you start at 9 o'clock position, and the announcement of the final stretch is at the 3 o'clock position. That's about 2/3 the way, not anywhere near 'final'. The final stretch is generally the final straightaway on an oval track. By that definition, the final stretch of this race is very very near the end.
2.) Vendor Voices
I've had to turn off ALL voices to stop the nonstop yelling by the chef, epohh breeder and etc. How about a separate audio on/off for special event NPCs?
3.) Fastest Game on Ice line jumpers
Why when someone runs up and starts the race the
same time I'm trying to start it, we both wave, then
they get ported to the track and my race gets auto-failed? Then I have to run back and reacquire the race while the line-jumper gets to run the race. I have yet to 'win' the starting over a line jumper.
4.) Raising Epohhs 24hr cooldown
Why 24hrs when the Race is on 20hrs? Makes it hard for people who can't be on all the time. You can't 'walk' the time back for easier access on later days.
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.

You snooze you lose brah :P
Joking aside, that really annoyed me this year too. Especially since it didn't happen last year - instead you just had to signal again if you lost the race to start, rather than being failed and having to go and see the Co-ordinator again.
People should be more damn patient. I ended up heading to the least populated Zones in the last week because it was preferable to dealing with all the impatient *******s in the more populated zones.
Agreed! (not the first sentence, tho') I've done the F-and-F race twice ... 2-player race the first time; 2nd place finish; five or six-player second time; arrived at finish in 2nd place, but didn't hit the flag in time, got nothing because one of the other finishers took my 2nd place flag; I didn't even get any of the flags. Who created the extremely dumb reasoning that just because you didn't hit the flag in time someone else can steal it from you?
(steps off of the wooden box)
^^^This. It got real annoying real quick. I already have a wife and three daughters who feel they have to yammer at me from all directions while I'm trying to play, the vendor voices just multiply the annoyance factor by ten.
It's a race to the flag not the end of the track. The game mechanics of how the race works does not allow for it to work any other way. I sit next to my buddy and we are both running the race but his computer shows him ahead of me while mine shows me ahead of him... we can't both be right. So it's a race to the flag not the finish line. There are many other threads where this is explained in more detail.

Agreed. This should be 20hrs cooldown... I keep getting pushed into the morning hours as I go through 14 toons and each day it gets later until I just lose a day to start in the morning again. Same thing on New Romulus.

what i find amusing is that its "lets make a tasty treat *comma* together" and how he emphasizes "together"....
gives you a slightly different perspective on things doesnt it...:D

This is something that was completely intolerable for me with Neverwinter. EVERY time I closed that game I let out a very audible sigh of relief at the tranquil silence that followed. Closing that game, just to get away from all the noise, was quite possible a more pleasent experience than plaything the game itself for me.
I'm not saying background chatter/ambiance is bad or anything. The problem is the frequency of it. I actually sat there counting and the chef, alone, was spewing out voice-overs with less than a 5 second delay at points. I'm not sure if its triggered by player proximity or an internal timer.. but that direly needs to be scaled back to no sooner than 30 seconds between messages - personally, I'd shoot for at least a 2 minute delay.

Why?!?! DON'T YOU WANT AN EPOHH FRIEND?!?!?!
OMG YES! Very annoying!
2) I have no idea why they haven't bothered changing this in the last patch. Guess they do want us to shut off our volume.
3) My frustration is growing at this. They originally put in that stupid line after people complained about this in WW1, and now people are jumping in line again, instead of actually waiting! They need to force people to stand in line!!
4) My guess is Cryptic purposely did this so players wouldn't farm Epohhs.
I like to add to this:
5) Fast and Flurious
They need need to get rid of this race or given us alternatives. You see so much hate in the WW zone chat when the races happen. People complaining about bunny hoppers, people leaping over the gate, and of course the infamous stealing the flag from another player.
It's like Cryptic purposely made this race to be sadisic and cause players to fight amongst themselves.
If they are having this race in next year, they better add an alternative. Perhaps a single-player version of the race with additional obstacles, that players can do 1 at a time between the Fast and Flurious race.
6) Winter Invasion
Make Acccolades - Team accolades, not individual. You got players squabbling over Gingerbread men or candy piles.
And give us a way to turn in those lumps of coal and Gingerbread Men pets for something good, and not clutter our inventory with useless junk.
Only if they're good as a tasty treat.

Why are you not rejoicing?
It's not impatient people anymore, it's just griefing at this point. There are people who wait behind other people for nearly 10-15 minutes straight like it's a game of chicken. Yesterday I had it happen to me 3 times in a row before I could start the dumb race.
If we can't all work this out like adults, then the bug has to be fixed by next year.
LOOOOOOOOOL.. really? Maybe what you want is an I Win Botton.
The race is fun, and even if you loss with out doing any effort you get a reward. Is the only part of the game that awards the effort and the best player, something that is really common in any succefull MMO.
Leave the race alone, is the only motive to enter the winter event. I am not against alternatives way to earn tags, but if you want to earn 12 tags, win the race.
I am tired of players calling STO a hard game..
At first I lost every race, then I began to practice alone, making the circuit after hours (no event). A few days later, I won all the races. Yes, I took me time and effort to win.. consider that before asking nerf.
Ohh.. and btw, asking for something in the game to be removed because you dont like, is extremely selfish.

Have you thought about changing zones?... I don't even care to stand in a queue; hell, if I see 2 people standing there, change zone. Matter of seconds. 10 or 15 minutes to wait? Sorry but then you're either not watching or taking a chance.
After the caitian jump nerf thread I don't take it seriously anymore.
I call it, the Stoutes paradox.
However as annoying as they are, there can not be anything over Christmassy in the Winter Wonderland as there are player that do not recognise this time of year due to their own culteral beliefs, so therefore the VO was basically the safe option.
I agree, ESPECIALLY with the middle two.
I'd like to add the trolls to this list--the WW jerks are particularly nasty. Like ESD all over again.
This happen when you start waving before the other one. The last one to click the "start" button is the one that will start, everyone else is rooted and fail. So, you just have to wait a tiny bit when you see the button "start", and then push it. You'll start, the line-jumper will be rooted and disqualified.
I did it myself, it's a lot of fun.
I probably managed to be a griefer myself at least once - didn't really understand what was happening. I guess I assumed (yes, I know ) that the code worked properly and wouldn't start two at once. So if I line-jumped anyone, I'm tossing out a blanket apology - it wasn't intentional.
I guess we're lucky - I really hadn't noticed much of this stuff until the last couple of days. Last night I was trying to run FRoI and someone had set up party balls at the race start and at several of the corners. I found that pretty annoying. Normally the party balls don't bother me, but the one at the race start actually caused me to not start - it acted just like I had been line-jumped and failed my race.

It's also selfish to force a gameplay people don't like as well. Especially in not providing an alternative that was there last year.
Why you getting tired of something people aren't saying? Perhaps you would enjoy the game if you stop making things up? :P
The other main bug - actual an exploit - is in the PvP Fast and Flurrious race. Lots of people have figured this exploit out and are simply unbeatable. They cheat to 1st place easily using this exploit that I will not repeat here. I'd try to explain but it's against forum rules to post exploits. I can only hope the devs are aware and will take steps to fix it next year.
And if the person who jumps in and roots you is the line jumper, it's a lot less fun.
What I tend to do, is if there's already someone there, when I get to the race guy, I wait like 5-10 seconds after the interact popup turns up. If I don't see them wave, I feel free to click it. If they do, I just wait til it pops up again. A little patience, and a "wait your turn" mentality does wonders to avoid frustration. Granted, before I knew this was an issue, I'd click it, and ended up "line-jumping" like 3-5 people. Once I realized what was happening, though, is when I settled into my modus operandi of waiting a few.
Now, when dealing with a line jumper, I'll wait til I see them wave, then I click away, and laugh at their sorry butts when THEY are the ones having to run back, and waste time re-acquiring the mission, hehe. Had about a 90% success rate at it, too.:D
Now, on the vendors, I wouldn't mind so much, if the delay between them saying stuff, was vastly increased. Maybe, 1 minute intervals, between any of them saying anything. To, that would be better, and far more believable, than those guys always saying their messages every 5 or 6 seconds.

Umm, no, I would agree with the first sentence, when it applies to the PvP race. But they were talking about the PvE race, the one that gives you Q-pics.

I agree with both you, and the person you replied to. Sometimes, you just don't feel like doing the race, but would still like a way to get that particular award. (This is coming from someone who did it enough times to get 80+ tags, over 3 days, on 8 characters, lol). And there were plenty of times I wished that there was an alternate way.
