I can't believe that Cryptic gives this away at 40 with token. Science toon in this ship and it does decent damage too. Survivable even with fresh 50 in elite STF. That is all. Feel free to disagree. Also looks good btw.

If you like the regular version, I suggest the Mirror Universe version, for even more fun!

I gotta say I didn't like it when I tried it, but I'm glad you enjoy it.

    I agree.

I think the Vo'quv is the best of the free ships. I love mine, but it may not be for everyone.

Get yourself the elite BoP pets, they do crazy strafing runs with THY3 and CRF3 especially when they do it coming out of cloak.

Add 3 flt neutroniums with +turn and the thing will pretty much fly like a cruiser and have a base resistance of about 45.

The fleet version then add a console slot and 10% hull and shields, with the right pets that gives you a tanking 10k dps ship with science abilities without having to spend 80m EC on a canon busting ship like the Recluse or Jemmy dread etc. That requires 4 fleet modules and a T5 shipyard fleet, which I think you'll find in the recruitment section. Pretty much any fleet with a T5 shipyard will have a T3 mine and embassy and be finishing the spire within a month.

Aye, the Vo'Quv is one of the best free ships in the game. Fleet Vo'Quv looks awesome, really looking forward to hitting T5 shipyard so I can get a hold of it (and the B'rel too).

Mirror is great for other classes, since the engi-heavy focus makes it an outstanding tank. Good for use with fighter pets in PVE where you can hold aggro on yourself. The regular (sci-heavy) Vo'Quv is best used with the BOPs, since you have enough slots for heals to keep them going.

I picked up the mirror one for practically nothing on the exchange so I can swap play styles s needed. Still months away from Tier V though the fleet version with 46K hull looks nice.

I am still torn on pets though. In originally wanted to build CC and drain hybrid so I was thinking of getting advanced siphon drones. Some said they were nerfed to oblivion though. Also thinking of Orion interceptors but I will look at BoP too.

I have not toyed with the Siphon Drones in a while, but the Interceptors, whether you go Advanced or Elite, still perform very well. They're not as heavily armed as some but their fast as hell, have some drains to supplement your own if you do any. Elite Interceptors with their Tractor Beams are awesome in PVP. Since they are Fighters, they are also very quick to replace since Vo'Quvs typically run with pretty good Aux Power.

The Elite BOPs are great. As "frigates" they last alot longer and are armed to the teeth. CRF, HYT, and if you have them do these attacks coming out of cloak, they're very nasty. However, I found that you need to control them more than most other hangar units. You need to Recall them to apply battle cloaks from a moderate distance. Once they're gathered, send them on Attack command to the target. Then they will go in guns and torps blazing with good effect. Again, you need to babysit them more. There are some that don't like that style.

Another +1 vote for the Mirror version. Top notch ship, nearly unbreakable lol.

I would't go that far. It quite vulnerable. It *IS* a decent tank due to the large hull, the nice shield modifier, AND the eng boff slots. They all add up to a ship that can withstand a lot of damage, and do it with a smile. However it's not indestructible.

It also suffers from 3/3 weapons setup, slow turn, and the need to run beam arrays if you want to keep the firepower up. You're trading firepower for all that tanking ability.

I would recommend it to folks interested in getting a good carrier for the first time. That's what I did. My sci wasn't doing carriers, so I didn't have the lvl 40 free ship choice of a vo'quv anymore. I went with the mirror vo'quv much much later. Looking at it, I think this has the better boff setup, and I'm happy with it.

Have to respectfully disagree. I am running the standard Voquv with standard pets and I tear things up. Handled all DPS in Vortex elite on my side and finished before the other team with lots of time to spare. Out DPS 3 escorts in Azurre ... Combined. I can even tank solo in Breach Elite against the turrets and ships in 1st phase.

    Once again

    1. Lvl 40 ships
    2. Free pets
    3. No reps and exchange gear ... Mk XI
    4. Science toon

Awesome sauce ... Is all I can say.

I also do like more the standard Vo'quv than the mirror version in my science character. A shame that we need tier 5 shipyard to get the fleet version :(

I still have doubts in what type of weapons to use though, except that i like beam arrays on it. Maybe some sort of disruptors to help the team and pets damage? Or since i have an high flow caps skill for plasmonic leech, i should aim for tetryon? I like the idea of ripping the shields with polarized tetryon and a 2 piece omega set while the BoP pets do their job.

On my sci voquv I like to load up on drain abilities that weaken the target, with polarized disruptor beams to further that objective, and one romulan plasma launcher for large targets. I dont think Tetryon would be much use, as energy weapons do more shield damage and Tet proc does nothing when shields are gone (or do not exist, as with borg gates). Carriers have a lot of sci and engi console slots so they are good for loading up on things like aceton assimilator and plasmonic leach and whatnot.

So for weapons on this lovely beast of a ship, what do most people run? I'm currently trying out a torp build, with 1 nakuran tetryon bank up front for a little added aoe sheild drain.

3 Polaron up front, 2 polaron turrets aft, with one quantum torp. Slavers for my hangars.
