I've always sorta liked tetryon but as everybody has probably talked about extensively it's not exactly one of the better weapon types to be using. I've since switched to Voth AP because hey, its AP(ish) and I absolutely love the graphics and sounds for it.
I'm currently flying around in an Aux2Bat Mobius, and its actually doing quite well despite its issues with being squishy. Now, I am suddenly curious about making an anti-Tholian specialty build that actually uses Nukara rep gear (even if its not the best or most versatile). I'm not looking for detailed suggestions, just general brain storming.
I have two options to start with. I can use my Mobius, or use one of my alts. Difference being is the Aux2Bat Mobius has the full Aegis set on it for survivability. I've trial and errored with other reputation gear and given the limitations of an Aux2Bat Mobius, I just blow up less with the Aegis then anything else. I'm not sure if I can afford to switch to the Nukara deflector/engine/shield set without my ship getting too squishy. However, I can switch out my Voth AP with Refractive Tetryon and pick up some consoles to switch whenever I want. (I don't intend to run the tetryons all the time, just for playing around in PvE). Another thing I don't like about that idea is the lack of refracting tetryon turrets and it would be too difficult to switch BoFF skills between cannons and beams.
If I decide to try to use an alt, I'll have to use another ship, but I can experiment with the full Nukara set, perhaps a refracting tetryon beam-boat (though it'll likely be an escort unless someone makes a really good argument against it). My only expectation is against non-Tholian PvE my ship will be outfitted with enough multi-target tactical BoFF skills to circle strafe around enemy ships stripping them entirely of shields just for fun - oh and living, living is important.
