BoP Buff

Okays

So devs said that they were planning to bring the raider buff to BoP soon. They also mentioned that they were going to tweak the BoP in some way. We haven't seen anything more about this since then so I am hoping they are still going to do it.

If we aren't going to get a big improvement like an extra forward weapon slot (5-1) or an extra tac console BoP then how about the universal ensign slot.

Originally, they penalized BoP for having all universals by removing ensign slot. Since then though there have been many ships with 1 or 2 universal slots and BoP have fallen way behind. How about making up for it now. I can think of many ways this could enhance the offensive or defensive potential but I don't see it being OP in any way.

    I doubt it's something they've pushed aside, probably more along the lines of that it won't happen until the new year (also give chance for most people to get the Plesh Brek, maybe work out any kinks with Flanking).

    So I think patience is the key word atm. Let's wait until after the New Years to worry about it.
    I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
    I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

    An added Universal Ensign would make me happy, as would a 5/1 weapon setting.

    Why stop at 5/1 though? I agree with another poster, go to a full 6/0 weapon setting on the BoP. MoQdu to the wall.

    I would be quite happy it our BOP got the following:

    4 X 3 Weapons

    Ensign Universal

    Consoles:

    3 Engineering

    3 Science

    4 Tactical

    To get a bit more exotic:

    5 x 1 Weapons

    Ensign Universal

    Consoles:

    3 Engineering

    3 Science

    3 Tactical

    1 Universal Console Slot (this would be sweet)

    With a special Photon Torpedo that has a chance to drain power from targets Engines and Shields ;)

    I will completely and unfailingly agree with this. More forward power, less rear. I dont think i ever saw one in universe firing out the back it was always those massive wing disruptors and the torp launcher up front.

    I would prefer a much better option.

    The Raider buff should benefit the ship's unique role: Stealth & strike from stealth.

    There have been rumors of a 'flanking' buff ...which I personally don't like since the game as it is allows shields to be repaired instantaneously and as it is now, a BOP with the right weapons and setup can smash a target in one or two passes regardless of what 'flank' it comes from.

    I would prefer instead to have the raiders be given an extra engineering module slot.. BUT! this slot is given because the cloaking devices would now be a module too.

    Why? This allows different cloaking devices to be used in the ship. Just like warp cores in a way.

    This would allow players to purchase cloaking devices with specific bonuses that would tailor to their ship setup and play style.

    One cloak for example, could reduce torpedo timers by half for 5 seconds after ship decloaks. Another could lower energy weapon cost by half for 5 seconds after decloaking. Another could offer a defense buff during those 5 seconds. Another could give a large bonus to shield resists and regen for 5 seconds after decloak...the possibilities are endless.

    Note: B'Rel Retro enhanced cloak would still be built-in no matter what cloaking device module is equipped.. in essence the built '3 sec auto-recloak if not using energy weapons' feature just works with whatever cloaking device is equipped on it.

    I'm hoping the Plesh Brek ends up being a precursor to a BoP revamp. Give every Fleet BoP 2-3k more HP, the Norgh's boff layout and give the Norgh a 10th console (maybe to science), and fine tune the flanker mechanics and yeah now we're cooking with gas. :)

    That is what will probably happen if anything happens at all. However a slight stats bump isn't going to magically make BoP competitive again. They need something extra and no it ain't the flanking mechanism.

    I think the Fleet Norgh should have a 10th console, but i think the Dev's have other things in mind like an extra Ensign Station for a possible 13th ability that a player can use for that ship.
