Recently, I reached T5 Omega on a long-neglected alt and was rewarded with 500 Omega marks, 10 BNP's, and 9000 dil.
Wait! Did I read that right? Two other toons had been among the first players to reach T5 Omega rep (12-21-12), and I vividly remember the reward being 500 Omega marks, 10 BNP's, and 32,000 dil, following the same formula applied (cut and paste) to each reputation released since. In fact, the memory of that 32,000 dilithium purse was the only motivation I had for pushing additional alts through the system.
When the reputation system was first released, you actually had to enter an STF, then Admiral D'Vak would hail you to present the award. I tried that- nothing. I tried actually going to DS9 to speak with D'Vak- nothing.
I combed the forum only to find a single mention of the reward being 9000 dil from 7-13.
So sometime between 12-12 and 7-13 the reward for completing the monumental grind was reduced by ~72%! No mention was made in the patch notes during that time referring to such a reduction. 9000 dil is not even enough to buy a single piece of space equipment!
Is this a bug? If its a bug, you are now aware of it.
Was it intentional? If so, why was no mention made to the players?
I know that technically we own nothing in the game... but why do I feel like I just got ripped off?
Yeah been like that for a few months. I remember my first toon got a big pile of dilithium and thought man i'll never have to grind again. The last toon through, it was like a day's supply.
Are you sure you are remembering correctly? From what I recall, the Omega Reputation has always been 9,000 dilithium while the Romulan Reputation has always been 32,000 reputation. The reward gives just enough to get one piece of equipment for free. The Omega Reputation gave just enough for a piece of STF ground set Mk XII and Romulan Reputation gave just enough for a piece of the Romulan Space Set. It doesn't make sense to give 500 Omega Marks and 32,000 dilithium since the requirements are screwed up. If Omega gave 1,000 Marks and 32,000 dilithium, then it would make sense.
I just double-checked, and I have a screenshot I took Dec 31, 2012 on completing the rep (had to do the slot project workaround) and it shows 9000 Dil.
The Omega rep reward was enough to purchase a piece of MkXII Ground gear.
The Romulan and Nukara reps rewards were enough to buy a piece of MkXII Space gear
