For those who do not know, Veterans in this game (players who have reached 800 days sub or have a lifetime sub) can run a Unique Duty Officer Mission that allows them to refine an additional 1000 dilthium every two days.
This mission great as it sounds is severely dated. With the introduction of the Fleet Dilithium Mine once you reach Tier Two of the overall mine you can refine an extra 500 a day. Best part is it is a lot faster and more accessible than the Veteran Refinement.
Veteran Refinement takes two days for 1000, and takes a doff assignment slot to run its course over the two days, not to mention tying up a technician (pretty significant doff).
Fleet Dilithium Mine Refinement takes 5-10 seconds for an extra 500 per day, takes no doffs, does take a doff slot but its impact is minimal due to the completion time of the mission.
Veteran Refinement is more of a hassle to even get to the starting point location. It is only accessible at the academies and the command center. This requires traveling across the galaxy per character to merely get to the locations, then you have to run literally across the ground maps to get to the refinement contact and due to random beam ins, this can take a while.
Fleet Dilithium Mine Refinement is fairly simple, you can transwarp directly to your Fleet's Starbase and shuttle it over to the Mine, and once its all said and done, end up exactly where you started off from. Or an even easier way is to just get a map invite to the mine and conduct your business there.
In conclusion, the Veteran Refinement is supposed to be a reward to Veteran Players and Subscribers, but in reality it seems more of a burden. There are a few things that could be done to ease this burden. One, based on your account type you could automatically refine 500 more dilithium per day, but I suspect that this isn't entirely feasible with the current set up. Two make a personal/dept head mission that can be accessed anywhere in the galaxy to launch the mission.
I believe that it should go without saying that regardless of anything that the mission should not take two days to complete, it should be near instantaneous similar to the dilithium mine mission.
I can get behind this idea, even though I'm not a veteran myself and it doesn't impact me. I think Vets should be rewarded for all the time and money they have put into the game, and their rewards shouldn't have to feel like "work."
Two days is really excessive (I'm not saying it needs to be instant, but it should at least be much less than two days), and it really should be accessible from your personal assignment list.

I'm not a veteran player or a lifetime player either. Just f2p. However I enjoy this game and would like to support it. This perk in theory is a big turn on for me since I have a lot of characters, however in reality it isn't time effective.
I cant think of any objection any vet could ever pose against this notion. Its a shame cryptic don't care.... sure would be nice if they proved me wrong about that though.

Yeah that was one of the possible changes that I listed.
