Request: Default Uniform & Ship Visual Filter (In Options)

dcboy57dcboy57 Member Posts: 71 Arc User
Players have created so many uniform variations and there is nothing "uni" about our uniforms. It ruins the game's atmosphere when so many customized characters and ships running around.

So, I'd like to request a visual filter which can change other players' uniforms & ships appearance to default. In other words, all other players will look like NPCs when the visual filter is on.

This filter will only affect the player's perspective and can be turned on and off at anytime. Also, the filter should be able to turn on individually, so we can view our friends' customized uniforms and ships.

Thank you.

And how would that work? Like replacing all existing models on the map for 1 player only? I'd imagine It would be rather complicated to rework the game so every other player would look like the same to you, same with ships. And it defenitly wouldn't be worth the time the devs have to put into this.

It shouldn't be difficult for the devs. Feds = Odessy, KDF = Botasqu (?), Romulan Republic = RR1 or RR2.

Something like this was brought up a while back, and it pretty much went nowhere. Plus there's no doubt some technical limitations that need to be worked out. AFAIK the game engine is currently incapable of "phasing" or "filtering" content like some other MMO's can.

Bad idea. Not only would it cause unnecessary strain on the server with yet another thing to keep track of... but it also somewhat defeats the purpose of even having character and ship customization in the game to begin with.

^Words that every player should keep in mind, especially whenever there's a problem with the game...

    Ermagerd! Mah immersiunz is broken!

In all seriousness though, no. I might utterly despise certain outfits (*cough* oddy uniform *cough* but I have no right to dictate what others wear. Neither do you.

I like the idea in concept, but I don't feel like the end product would be worth the trouble.

But I would like to see NPCs on Fleet Starbases use the Fleet's default costumes, if that's possible.

Considering this wouldnt actually change what other players are wearing on their screen, and would only affect the visuals of the people with it toggled on... I cant see how this would be bad. Others would get to wear whatever they want... and people who want starfleet officers to look like starfleet officers would be able to see people wearing odyssey.

I would love to see this.
