TL;RD: DMGx3 plus ACC, CrtD or CrtH for a Fleet Assault Cruiser beam boat?
I'm sorry to start another one of these threads, but in my searches I haven't been able to find an appropriate answer.
I have a Fleet Assault Cruiser. I have been using tetryon beam builds since I was a Commander. I have an additional WAQT out front and the KCB out back. Those are staying. I'm running four 26.2% tetryon increase consoles.
I have recently earned enough fleet credit and dilithium to buy a complete battery of six Advanced Fleet Beam Arrays. When I went to my fleet space supplies store, I found that I had four options for tet beam arrays: DMGx3 & ACC, DMGx2 & ACCx2, DMGx3 & CrtD and DMGx3 & CrtH.
I've been running green MkXI CrtD beams up until now. The advanced fleet weapons with DMGx3 seem to be producing about 20% more 'base' damage than my MkXI weapons, a notable improvement. I'd like to keep the DMGx3 proc.
The remaining question is whether the remaining proc should be CrtD, CrtH or ACC for a beam boat? I like the crazy (for me anyway) crits that I've been getting with my CrtD MkXI weapons. Would the CrtD Advanced Fleet weapons be the best bet for me in this situation as well?
You only get more damage out of acc2 if you max out your own accuracy and it causes spill-over into crit.
Even if you have 100% accuracy plus accx2, the enemy target can still have a defense rating that drops this below 100% thus gaining no extra damage. So it really is a gamble on whether or not you're going to get that extra crit bonus, or if you want to go for an always-on bonus like DMG. Apparently cryptic have shown they want to go with DMG instead of boosting base damage (which would be better) on fleet weapons.
IMO I like the better chance of hitting. Even with 100% accuracy you can still miss those damn borg super plasma balls, and when you REALLY need to kill them, the extra ACC helps.

What they should do is boost the base damage, remove the Dmg modifiers and allow more combinations or CrtH or CrtD.
Accx2 Dmgx2 are better imo, especially on the offchance you pvp. More accuracy seems like a better deal than a small increase in base damage.
i use a plasma beam boat (JHDC) and i use crthx3. imo, and from what i noticed, for beams crth is the key, but you can combine with crtd as well. acc in pve is way to much under the crth and crtd. for pvp i have no idea...
You've determined that you're going to keep DMGx3. Good catch. You win STO. I'm betting you're more than a bit under 10% CritH, and if you are DMG will outperform rate or severity. So for the rest...
If you're shooting at players the answer is always more ACC. Or no ACC. Take your pick. If you were actually going to shoot just at players, the ACC and DMG x2 would in fact be your best choice of the lot.
If you don't do that, pick the modifier that you overall have the least of. If severity is highest, choose rate. If rate is highest, chose severity. That will give you the best damage boost when dealing with weapon mods, without having to think overly hard on it.
If you WANTED to think a little harder about it, all else being equal, if you took the damage mods in order of ACC, DMG, H, and D, the smoothest damage curve is to the left, the steepest is to the right.
It also happens to be how you would would rank the mods overall in damage contribution. Yes, ACC is the greatest contributor, followed by damage, followed by crits.
Since you are using Beams, are you also using the Nukara Particle Converter? It adds accuracy to all beam weapons incl. the Kinetic Cutting Beam & Omni Directional Antiproton turret. I also have the Accuracy space trait to help add extra [ACC] for space weapons along with maxing out the skills for accuracy.
In both the Fleet Avenger & sci Vesta I fly, I usually use beams with Fire At Will slotted twice.

Have a sparkly day.

I usually fly this build when I'm in the Fleet Avenger:

My signature has my sci Vesta build since I'm using this at the moment.
