Elite widow fighters versus advanced

I just realized that the Advanced widow fighter pets are the ones that get the big upgrade: an extra weapon. The Elite upgrade adds Fire At Will, which seems basically suicidal for something that is lucky to survive one good shot in combat. Anybody used both of these? Does the extra damage from Fire At Will compensate for the higher cost of getting the elite version and their presumed higher tendency to explode?

    Yeah avoid the weavers and use the frigates.

    Even on a good day the fighters only do about 33% of the damage of other dps fighters


    Addendum : if you are using the recluse. If you are using any other ship right now the rom fighters are better
    Should I start posting again after all this time?

    Yeah sorry. I am recovering from the flu and am not all that "there".

    The tholian fighters suck for dps by a shocking amount.

    And they agro everyone around if you aren't careful so make sure they are flown by the riff raff
    Should I start posting again after all this time?

    I've never used the Elite Widow Fighters, but I used to like the Advanced before I got Elite Mesh Weavers. With the advanced Widow Fighters, what you do is recall them and then just as you are about to take down the shield facing of your enemy, put them on attack and they will all fire their quantum torps at the target, usually killing it if you time it right.
