What happened to Q's face?

nametaken9999nametaken9999 Member Posts: 21 Arc User
How come Q doesn't look anything like the cannon Q? Not even the same eye color: http://www.startrek.com/legacy_media/images/200307/delancie02/320x240.jpg

And please, no pathetic "Q can change his appearance any time he wants" cop-outs!

They don't have the likeness right to use John Delancie's face, so as the two above posters said, we get Q Junior, all growed up.

And also: Q can change his appearance any time he wants :D

I was afraid you might say that...but then why would it bother to wear the same outfit as another Q? Infinite intellect and zero originality?

    Brand recognition.

That outfit is one of Q's most iconic, and since STO has many players who are not really Trek fans or may only be casual watchers, they needed something to make Q identifiably Q.

Well, several Q have been seen wearing that outfit. It wasn't something unique to John de Lancie's char.

Maybe he liked the Outfit when these Q wanted to get rid of him.

If you made the character look like John D, you would need his permission and pay him for the privilege.

They could have made Q Jr. an amalgam of JDL and Suzie Plakson (the actress who played Mama Q). Since the end result would not technically be the likeness of either one, royalties would not be an issue.

Would have been awesome if they got John DeLancie to at least to do Q voice overs. :D

He is Q, your argument is invalid by default.

I always liked to think that Trelane was Q, Jr. all growed up (hey, they're Q, they don't have to follow time linearly).

Or Keegan de Lancie. that's who played Q Jr. (yes, that's right, the son of Q was played by the son of John de Lancie)

Q Jr. is bad enough. I'm just glad they didn't add a Jimmy T. Kirk Jr some other crappy offspring to 2409.

Yes, at the end of "The Q and the Grey" as an infant, and in "Q2" as a teenager.

both John and John Keegan have had appearances as Q. all thats missing is Suzie Plakson as the 3rd Q.

quite a bi is missing on the Q and its been reduced to a bit part in game.

at this point i think we'd be at "James T. Kirk the 3rd." or maybe even 4th.

Now wait, you may be onto something here...it's worked for other serials, maybe it can work here.

Marvel had the X-babies. Henson and some studio execs gave us Muppet Babies.

Maybe to revitalize the fanbase CBS could be convinced to do...

    Star Trek Babies!

Baby Kirk and Baby Bones laughing at Baby Spock trying to make the human half cry while Baby Q throws tantrums about anything that doesn't go his way...

    *awaits the nerd rage* :D

That just seems really odd, I mean, that you can own "rights" to physical traits. I mean, there's a lot of people who look like celebrities. Why couldn't you just say it was designed around somebody who looked like the actor?

For that matter, what if a random character they created happened to look a lot like me? Would I have a good case for a suit against Cryptic?

It's like that Wilford Brimley actor. He sued a guy once because his name happened to be Wilford Brimley also. It's just plain stupid. The band "Eagles" once sued an author for writing a book about birds called "The Eagles". Haha! Like they were around before the birds?

And a man recently sued the Dominican Republic because it rained while he was there on holiday.

And no harsh responses from anyone or I may sue :)

So this complaint boils down to " I don't know the shows as well as I think I do"

its Q junior. Q junior was a character from the show.

    kudos

I see a bunch of Orion characters with info in their bios of being "one of the many TRIBBLE grand children of James T Kirk". It's not that far from being canon as you might think :P
