If this is in the wrong place then i apologize ahead of time. I am a noob at this even though i bought it either first day or i might have even played in beta but i'm not sure. The problem i'm having is that i just don't understand the bridge officer thing. I use got into a new ship a K't'inga Battle cruiser before it i had a Som'raw.
The Som'raw had a 2 tact stations and i was able to use my two tact officers, The Battle cruiser has two engineering stations but i only have 1 engineering officer. So i went and bought one off the exchange and tried to commission the officer but i don't have any room for another bridge officer.
Am I missing something? Why would this ship have 2 engineering spots if i can't have more then 1 engineer. One of my Tact officers is still listed as a candidate even i can take her on away and missions use her at a Tact station. My new engineering is listed as a candidate but only offers to train.
Any help or explaination would be greatly appreciated.
Hit U, at the top you should see status, skills, traits, stations and reputations...click on Stations. On the very far left you will have your name, your ship and shuttle and then your list of active bridge officers. In the middle you will have your ship stations, what boffs are sitting where, and at the bottom your away team. On the right side you will see Bridge Officer Candidates.
On the left look at your list of active bridge officer names. Like peeta said you will probably have to get rid of a boff to make room. If you did have room for more active bridge officers on the left after the last name you would see
[no officer]
[no officer]
But if you just have your current, active bridge officer names on the left side and nothing underneath the last name then you dont have room. Look at the list of names of your boffs, click them and see what you have. For leveling purposes just make sure you have at least 2 tac boffs, 2 eng boffs, 1 sci boff. That will cover most of the raptors and cruisers that you use for leveling. Once you get to higher tier ships then you might see something that has 3 slots for engineers or 3 slots for tac, or 2-3 slots for sci. But as you level you gain more slots for boffs, just dont make every new boff from a candidate into an active boff and you should be fine.
You get more spots as you level up, its common for lower level players to be unable to set up their BOs properly. I have the same issue on my rom captain, she has a ship with 2 science stations but no room to hire another to fill the spot so it sits empty for now.
BTW here are some important BO tips since you are new to them:
quality matters, seek purple guys (buy in AH, earn in duty officer tasks)
race matters, for space and ground passive skills. Naussicans (sp?) are nice for our side.
training matters, you want to study their few possible skills and retrain them for your build, then dump points into them after that. Some skllls can only be trained by human captains, others can be trained by candidates so extra blue/purple candidates can teach your guys better skills. You can also train them for a small energy credit fee at the barracks, in lesser skills.
My advice is to try for a candidate every time you can with the duty officer quests that grant them. Purple candidates with either awesome racial passives or the ability to train a harder to get skill are worth some money, for the ones you do not use yourself.
