Small suggestion: Make the glossy pictures of Q account bound instead of character bound.
It'll make the accumulation of said pictures a bit easier for the character you want to use the raider on.
In addition it'll stop the "extend the Winter Wonderland by X days" which will undoubtedly show up.
With account bound pictures we can also get both breen vessels on characters which were created after last years Winter Wonderland, in particular the Romulan characters.

This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

It won't happen. They want you to log in 25 days during the 35 days of the winter event. If they make the autographs account bound, then they would need to make the race "once per day per account" to prevent people from running the race on 25 alts day one.
I fail to see the connection.
All this suggestion does is decrease the number of days for the raider to become available on the main characters. It does not reduce the number of times a race must be run.
Not taking into account that people spent serious cash to purchase that many accounts and that they should have certain advantages, i believe the benefits of making the pictures account bound instead of character bound far outweigh any disadvantages.
And people will still go to the WW, but they can focus on other aspects that the daily race.
Again, benefits outweigh disadvantages.
Then we'd be right back to: newer players cannot get both ships this year and will need the next two winter events (2014 and 2015) to catch up, assuming there's another ship added in those events too.

Maybe in whatever alternate universe you're posting from, but not on this planet. Cryptic wants their Lobi from everyone who wants 2 ships, and your fantasyland idea ain't gonna stop them from getting it. Past experience supports this. :rolleyes:
They're basically 'marks' for the winter event. What you're suggesting would be the same as making all marks account-bound and tradeable. It trivializes and defeats the purpose of a character's progression.
Making the pictures account bound would actually encourage people to create extra characters so that is a source of income for PWE as well.
The benefit for the players is obviously that they don't have to wait for their ship.
No, that's a possible source. Leaving it as is makes anybody wanting both ships into a guaranteed source.
And the benefit for PWE is...nonexistent compared to the current situation.

Truth be told, it's a pain in the butt running the race with all my toons, that is why I have to be selective this year on who gets what. Mainly the toons I have gotten the Cruiser for in last yr Winter event, gets to run the races all 25x.
As far a pic going account wide, it's a great idea, it rewards players for having multiple characters, encourages buying lobi for the remaining characters who lack pic, and helps multi-characters players to focus on the rest of the Winter Event activities etc...
The game should be fun, and not a 2nd job - we're already grinding our buns off on the rep system, this is already a nightmare for players with multiple characters as is.
I see more advantages to this idea than disadvantages, after all, they did it with lobi crystals, why not with pic that are earned only one month out of an entire year.
I really do not understand the position of the Nay sayers, except to cry foul and no fair. If that's the Main reason, then why not invest in more character slots.

didn't everyone just get the chance to earn over 500 lobi doing the replay missions event, so lobi doesn't always = zen.
so you may be able to make up for some of your shortfall with them.
sure it would be nice if they were made kind of account bound if it was implemented correctly, if they made a send to alts uncompleted project that would only pop up after you had got your ship (similar to how the reputation by association works when you hit t5) so you would hand in pic`s 40 at a time and get a token that is account bound you could send to your alt to feed into his ship project that once put through the corresponding claim project would automatically feed them into his unclompleted ship project, then it would be easy for 1 new character to get both ships, but I cant see that happening.

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
Nice idea, but what would prevent people from making 'throw-away' characters to get both ships? I like the idea of account bound boxes though, so we can do the race but we can decide later which character should use the ship.
Making the pictures account bound will not happen, as mentioned before, because players with many characters would get the ship much sooner. That would be unfair.
Players with only one or two characters have an advantage though, because they have to do the race much less often. If you have more characters the event can easily become a chore.
Cryptic do these events because for some reason they want people to log on every day.
So the only compromise I see is make the ships (or event main rewards in general) account wide unlocks. The ship boxes could then be claimed at some console, similar to the fireworks or now the ev-suit.
That would be the fairest way imo because it does not matter how many characters a player has and it would be the same amount of 'work' for everyone. We would have to log on and do the race 25 times (what cryptic wants).
I have 14 alts and am quite happy they are not account bound.

It's overly hostile to the player, regardless of whether anyone thinks it will bring in more revenue.
The only reason anything should be specifically tied to a character is if it's specific to a faction or some quality of the character's build for RP reasons.
Wont happen due to grinding multiple copies. The devs can be generous, but not that generous

Will it keep us logged on longer? Yes.
Will it keep us busy so we don't get bored? That cannot be it.
Will doing the same minigame more often make us spend more money on the game? I don't see how.
On the contrary. The more time I spend with grinding stuff the less I have time to think about new setups which would make me get new gear or ships. But maybe that's just me.
For some people, the answer is Yes, Yes it will. People who dont have the time to run the event but have enough income or not enough sense will purchase it through lobi. The Christmas event is just as much for Cryptic to make money as it is for us to have enjoyment. It has been this way since the first holiday event with the Bug ship. You could either do the repeated event and get the present and hope for the ship or you could buy the present off the then C-store and hope for the ship.
Well, actually, that already happens, lol. As in, if you have 25 characters, in order to get the photos for each character, you have to run it on each character/day, meaning that person is running it 25 times on the first (and every) day. I think you may have meant, "prevent someone from running it 25 times in one day, and being able to get the ship the first day, without spending any lobi."

Well, to me, what "special event" ships a character has, kind of makes it a fun way to determine, roughly, how long a character has been in existence. After all, it's not like game time changes or advances, so it's about the only way to tell, honestly.
