I've been anticipating the release of the Scimitar and the Romulan faction for over 4 years since 2009 and I eagerly bought the Ship the day it was released now so many people are complaining and requesting Cryptic to nerf it or even go so far as to remove it I don't know about any other Scimitar Captains but I bought the ship expecting the Stats that were shown on the screen if it get's nerfed by the request of other players then I'll be expecting a refund I didn't pay 40 pounds to end up getting the ship nerfed into oblivion.
If you paid any attention to the blogs there's always a big disclaimer about how the stats are subject to change, cryptic is well covered against arguments that you bought the ships expecting certain stats and I guarantee you there will be no refunds if anything gets nerfed.
That said, I agree with other posters, this thread is ridiculous. There's no question the scimitar is what it is, but who cares? When end game stuff can be done in shuttlecraft and anyone can perform well flying any ship they like in an extremely casual game, the only people nerfing the scimitar will affect are those concerned that their 'favorite' ship isn't good enough to show off their, well you know.
However, this game needs to have smaller ships viable. Manoeuvrability is not enough to turn this around, as something like a B'rel would not even be able to damage an Oddy or Scimitar unless enough disconnect between weapons and defense exists for the larger ship to vaporize the smaller one in a single shot.
This is not necessarily so. In another space-based shooter game that I play, ship classes are balanced so that inferior classes are about 75% capability of superior classes, but the inferior classes are faster overall (faster take-off and flight speeds) which allows them to control the engagement, how and where it starts, when to leave, etc. So you get a power scale of frigate < destroyer < cruiser < battleship but a battleship cannot kill a frigate unless the frigate captain is afk. Battleship vs cruiser is close fight and requires more skill from the cruiser captain (actual skill, repositioning to take advantage of exposed flanks, and so forth). Also, if you get two cruisers on a battleship, the two of them bring 150% of the battleship's capability, and since the battleship cannot leave-at-will versus the faster cruisers, it is game over for the battleship. In many scenarios, it is actually more dangerous to bring a big ship, because you are just likely to be swarmed. The most rewarding scenario is a mix of classes, with a combination of light interceptors all the way up to heavy caps, each playing a position and dynamically adjusting to the other side. Anyway, the point here is that its possible to balance around the concept of "unequal" classes without making any of them irrelevant, but its a fundamental design element. This game is very flat and one-dimensional by comparison.
Having said all that, in Star Trek lore all the ship classes are able to destroy all other ship classes and they are all basically equal from that POV--a Defiant needs to be able to wipe out a Bortasqu', and the opposite with BOP and Odyssey [I'm not able to cite Star Trek scripture like other people but IIRC it was Shattered Mirror that had the Defiant wipe out half a Klingon fleet]. A canon game probably needs to be somewhat one-dimensional.
This ship is so powerful I have no use for any of those PVE DPS channels anymore, I left 4 of them yesterday because I haven't bothered using them in weeks. I can just pug or do PESTF with this ship and it doesn't matter if the rest of the group is low DPS sci ships and eng cruisers or AFK I can still do STFs fast.

The Scimitar is my favorite ship along with the Wells but I don't want to "Show off" I don't want it to be nerfed until It can barely fend off a shuttle so instead of Nerfing the Scimitar why not buff the other dreadnoughts or release a new one for the Feds I don't want to see the Scimitar go the way of the Galaxy X.

This. And also the JHAS is way more OP than Scimitar which gets thrashed in a PvP. PvE balance is a joke with all p2w in game. I spent 25 on the tac version and I can tell you right away that Cryptic won't get another penny from me if they single out any of my ships for nerfs.

I got the movie on VHS for Christmas the year it was released. Last time I saw it must have been about 1990 when the tape died. I'm 35.
