Raiders buff incoming. What do you think it is?

Wanted to be the first to start talking about the upgrade coming to raiders.

A few questions.

What do you think the buff is going to be?

What do you want the buff to be?

How soon with Feds start asking for a raider class of ships after the buff happens

Last one: Could this raider buff be part of the new KDF ship that is in the work?

    I've seen a dev mention a flanking mechanism recently. It was received with moderate approval. I'd say that could well be it.

    I mean, it's a playstyle upgrade, so that's an addition alla Cruiser Commands, not a straight up buff.

    I'm curious, I'll admit that much. Love my BoP's...

    This is great to hear! Maybe I'll give that Ho'sus a go afterall. :D It's good to know that the Dev's do listen, and are doing something for the KDF and the iconic raiders.

    Flanking would be cool with a general toughness buff.

    With this breen raider being usable by all players and the feds already having Rom options plus the Defiant as an option, they should have no need for a raider class.
    They got it covered.

    I think it will be like the Cruiser Command thing.

    I'd like our BoPs to have secondary weapons and consoles layouts that you can toggle mid-fight.

    Geko mentioned the space flanking mechanic in an interview not all that long ago, so that's probably it. Should be a neat bonus.

    I doubt any existing ships that aren't classified as Raiders will be changed, so that limits it to BoPs and this Breen ship.

    To hazard a guess I would assume Raider class vessels will earn some kind of passive bonuses for attacking the flank of another enemy. Like enhanced shield penetration or accuracy or something.

    Feds getting a raider I would guess. Usually Cryptic don't bother to buff or fix KDF stuff unless they are giving it to another faction. Carriers for example.

    The new Breen ship is the raider.

    Flanking will probably be akin to an out of cloak damage bonus...

    How does is this any different to any other ship "flanking?"

    Maybe it will be bonus damage when 2 or more raiders decloak and attack?

    If it's like ground flanking, I would assume that we would get a damage bonus for attacking the sides and back of a target for extra damage.

    My personal thought on the flanking damage is that it should be applied to every ship in general, not just raider class vessels. Perhaps Raiders can get a crit chance or crit severity bonus from flanking? Guess we'll find out when it gets here...

    I didn't know that starships, big flying metal objects with equal shields and hull material spread around, would take more damage from the side... :confused:

    However thrown waaaaay out of reality it is, it would help BoP's damage by making its alpha strike more deadly.

    Probably something like a build-in placate and/or flanking bonus.
    This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

    Hopefully its well thought-out, balanced, and something that tailors to the flexibility of the BoP rather than some lame DPS enhancement for people who think they're escorts.

    I hope not. Flanking a starship, side and aft shields take more damage - what is the idea behind this, are those shields weaker? Everybody on the bridge is looking forward at the big screen not realizing enemies are at the sides and aft. The rest of your 1500 man crew are playing darts in the meshroom. So yeah everybody is more or less of guard. Anybody agree with me that it doesn't make much sense.

    We already have a flanking mechanism in space. It is the fact that most of your harder hitting weapons are directed to the front and aft.

    Maybe it's not weakening enemy flanks... but strengthening your own.

    Sadly the feds are already making assumptions that a fed raider class is comming....

    Which makes no sense to me since neither Star Fleet or the UFP follow the tactic of looting and pillaging other species.

    I hope the Breen Raider is the only one avaible to the feds, though I would not be against thr Aquariuos getting the benefits of the new Raider upgrade in the future.

    In ground combat, attacking from the rear 180 degree arc of a target will net the player with a flat +50% damage boost. I hope that's never added to escorts, just what we need, another reason for escorts to sit on someone's aft section. Now for Bird of Prey/Raiders, that could be very interesting indeed.

    well...since it's intended for Fed players (sure the ship's cross-faction, but we already have fully 1/4 of our inventory of available ships are 'Raiders') it's going to be somewhere in the ballpark of a Heggie for turn rate, accelleration, and weapons positions, it MAY also be packing an all-universal BOff layout and balanced consoles.

    it could even be running with 9 consoles in a 3/3/3 layout (a bit better than a Heggie's 2/3/3 layout).

    since it has no cloak, expect it to have decent hull and shield numbers, since we presume the devs learned from the Aquarius, those hull and shields will be better than a Hegh'ta by a fair to significant margin.

    I'm hoping for something that makes raiders faster, like a higher impulse modifier. Right now they move the same speed as escorts while being unable to really stand toe-to-toe with 'em. Even a small boost to .21 for all T5 raiders (including the free Hegh'ta) would be welcome.

    I can see it working on ground. Since you are getting hit from the back or sides. Where your less likely to defend against. However on a ship, you have defense all way around. So there isn't much a weak area.

    I don't see how a flanking will work. Since ships are more defended with shields and weapons. Where on the ground you can't really defend or attack behind you or your sides.

    I say a boost on weapons, power, or some way to increase attack for a period of time. Only time will tell what it will do. We will see tomorrow when they show the ship and what it can do.

    A buff for fighting within range of another raider class vessel would be cool. Though it would be useless for solo play.....
    Maybe a decloak alpha bonus for decloaking on a foes flanks???
