Once Again, Fleet Action Dailies

darthwoodarthwoo Member Posts: 371 Arc User
The last conversation seemed to die off without ever receiving any sort of official response, and bumping such an old thread is frowned upon, so I feel it might be warranted to ask again. Why are the fleet action daily selections on both sides so skewed toward the ground fleet actions?

On the Fed side, we have Big Dig, Gorn Minefield and Klingon Scout Force. Big Dig has been the daily for three days in a row now, and before anyone claims it's just a RNG blip, I have been playing the dailies almost everyday on the Fed side for over a year. Anyone else who also does this can vouch for the fact that the ratio of Big Dig to both of the other actions is at last 3:1. I recall that when I was actually tracking the selections while the Big Dig dilithium rewards were broken, it ended up at about 12 Big Digs in 15 days.

I don't really pay much attention to which ground FA the KDF gets as I have almost never seen one actually fill a queue, but I will note the absence of Federation Minefield, which despite its ease remains very difficult to queue into except for a window of a couple hours in the afternoon. Most times, if I actually look at the queues for KDF Big Dig or Breaking the Planet, it's at 0, or maybe 1-2 at most.

There are numerous issues which plague the FAs that people actually do play, not the least of which is KSF's absurdly slow spawn rates. I have literally fallen asleep waiting for a cruiser spawn in KSF. However, this thread is about the incredibly poor distribution of fleet action dailies, so that can be discussed another time.

And almost as if to help prove my point, Big Dig daily is now running on four days in a row. Judging by how the pug queues are becoming almost as difficult to fill on the Fed side as the KDF side, it appears that many others are just becoming fed up with the situation as well.

I brought this up awhile back. On Fed side it's usually Big Dig or Klingon Scout Force. Gorn Minefield rarely pops up.

Aside from Big Dig and Minefield, FA's are old and outdated and could definitely use some touching up.

I'd go for something as simple as maybe giving us the option between two random FAs as a daily, although I suppose that wouldn't help for the KDF as the RNG would mysteriously keep making Big Dig/Breaking the Planet the two options everyday.

What I'd like to know is why it's only those few missions, and why Starbase 24 or Breaking the Planet aren't even on the list.

5 days of Big Dig in a row. Joy.

And day 6. Starting to wonder if they actually have an override for selecting it themselves and are just seeing how long I'll keep track of it.

And after a brief respite of Minefields and Scout Forces, we're back on a Big Dig spree of three days so far.

    4 days in a row. Wooo. :(

I tried to play it, to see if that would start a CD or something, and another might become the daily, but no one will queue up for it. On the Fed side.....

So even if i WANTED to play Big Dig, i CANT.

I managed to get into one, but it was already at 11/12 artifact shields, and I had no chance to even finish the daily plant scanning with none of the rest of the team helping out, even the ones who arrived after me. So now I'm stuck waiting for another queue to possibly fill in the next couple hours.

As if things weren't already annoying enough, it seems that the STF-style queue has been applied to all PvEs, so now it's even more difficult to get certain actions started. I've been waiting for a KSF to start, but every time it has enough people to send out invitations, just enough people fail to respond that it kicks EVERYONE back into the queue. Just let us start the frakking thing with a couple fewer people (not as if any of the FAs really even need their minimum players), not wait an hour for enough attentive people to accept the invitation.

So I noticed that the PvEs above 5 players have a min-max range player count, and it seems that the match will not start if the minimum is not met by the time the one minute countdown ends. While this might work for a 5 player PvE, who in their right mind thought this was a good idea for the 15-20 player PvEs? I just sit there and watch as the invitation goes out the moment KSF hits 15 people in the queue, but 2-3 people abruptly disappear, so now even if everyone else is actually paying attention and accepts their invitation, we don't have enough people to start the match, the countdown tolls, and it kicks EVERYONE back into the queue. Meanwhile, another 2-3 people get fed up with the system and give up, and we're right back where we started. Rinse and repeat.

I swear this seems to get worse and worse with each passing day. Just waited for half an hour of repeatedly failing queues for Big Dig to start with nothing to show for it.

Aside from yet again being on a 4-5 day stretch of Big Dig, I've discovered yet another annoyance. I'm not sure if this is a new occurrence or if I've just been lucky enough to have not encountered it until now, but it seems engineers can troll people spawning into Big Dig by setting up random cover shields right at the spawn point, into which people get stuck. Considering how difficult it is to queue into an instance lately, it is too much of a risk to try to exit and rejoin, so we're basically stuck there for the duration of the cover shield or until the second phase starts and you can use the beam to rally point link.

Now that I've noticed it, it seems a bit counterproductive to start the countdown and send out invites when the player count is well below the minimum needed to start. With Big Dig as an example, since we seem to be on another run of it, it starts the timer at 12 players even when it requires 15. It seems very rare that an instance EVER starts on the first attempt.
