Nausicaans are your friend, use them

Really they are. With the Pirate trait recently fixed, Nausicaans are GREAT to have on a ship. Sure they cannot match the raw crit potential of Romulan BOFFs, but they are still an awesome boost.

Don't let the 1.5% all damage part fool you. It's a final modifier, which, I don't know the exact math about it, but it equates to more than you think. Now, the damage bonus does stack from them, but it will not stack the Stealth bonus.

Still, even 3 non-tac Nausicaans can be a pretty decent boost to a ship. Like on one toon, I got my DHCs to go from 2000 damage (sitting in system space) to 2100 damage just by equipping 3 of them. On my KDF sci, I have 3 Nausicaans as well, and have transphasic torpedoes sitting at 5000 damage.

Now, don't waste your ECs buying very rare Nausicaans on the exchange if you are only wanting the Pirate trait, as that comes with EVERY Nausicaan BOFF, guaranteed, irregardless of rarity.

I'd still recommend, if you have access to them, buying the rare male tac Romulan BOFFs from the embassy for the crit boost.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

This is a good news, but judging from Cryptic's history, I am afraid that something will break it and then it will take decades if not centuries to get it fixed.

But if it is going to stay permanent then I might need to airlock some lethans :D

...that would be the K't'inga model.
It's broken since Jan 2011, was briefly fixed for 2 months in late 2011 and remains broken ever since, no matter whom we tell about it.

I'm not getting rid of my beloved BOs for more Nausicaans because Crytic made the poor decision to have some races have space traits, there by making some races better then others.

last i checked it was more than 20 dps with DHC...it isn't really earth shattering, but i like the change very much.
superior operative and subterfuge are still way too powerfull compared to other space taits.

    its not enough.
if this is indeed an attempt to close the chasm between rom supOp/supInf boffs and the anaemic kdf boff choices (effecient and... nothing) it really does fail on all counts.
but i dont think it is an attempt at all. cryptic boned the kdf and they did it on purpose. there is no remedy for that.

Same for feds. Cant we have vulcans give crit chance too?
Let us wear Swimsuits on Foundry maps or bridges please! I would pay zen for that.

It may not close the gap but it is a very good buff. My sci varanus with all Nausicaan crew does pretty good DPS with just 6 beam arrays.

Worth noting that is also buffs exotic damage, dem damage, plasma fire damage... literally every bit of output of your ship.

Great, now they only need female Letheans and Nausicaans and they are almost on par with the Feds.

Bah, I refuse to get rid of my all Klingon crews for a bunch of honourless pirates! We are Klingon!

In all seriousness though, it's nice to see the KDF get a working space trait of their own, even if it doesn't quite match up to the Romulans.

I'd be fully behind every species in the game having their own unique and different space trait just to actually give a reason for having multiple different species on a ship's bridge crew.

Point of the thread was just to advertise that Nausicaan BOFFs, now that they do work, are worth looking into if anyone is interested.

Nah, I wouldn't say it's an attempt to balance out the Romulan Boff OPness, but it's rather a fix on the Nausicaan space trait that was suposed to work like this since forever, except that due to the general buggyness of STO this never worked properly untill recently.

In order for a space trait to have an effect, do I need to assign the BOff to a bridge station or does it suffice to have him in my BOff-roster?

    Do space traits stack cumulatively?
    --> 2 Nausicaan BOffs = 2x 2.5% Dmg buff = 5% Dmg buff?

I noticed. I'm still going to have to enslave a couple of Romulan tactical officers, unfortunately. But pirates make a good crew.

The BOFFs have to be seated to contribute to your ship stats. You can watch this in real-time by mousing over a weapon icon and switching BOFFs around (must be in system space to see this with a space trait).

The Nausicaan buffs stack. They are 1.5% (not 2.5%) and they buff all damage.

I have one Nausicaan for Variety, but I have 8 Orion Slave Girls, 1 Jem'hadar, 1 Gorn, 1 Romulan female, 1 Leathan, 1 Trill Female. I use a carrier bridge so I got the room.

They do indeed! My entire crew is made up of Nausicaan and Orion pirates, led by their swashbuckling Gorn captain! One has to wonder why the KDF felt giving these people a ship was a good idea. I wish I could hang a jolly roger out the back window.

    Arrr! THIS^^^

My captain is an orion babe with an unruly crew of thugs who will do just about anything to get a job done if there is loot to be earned. Perfect, I can be a loot you know what and roleplay at the same time, few games offer this....

You know, for a bunch of thugs and louts, they are pretty sharp. Everywhere I go, one of those pirates busts in on my screen to tell me that there are exactly 6 ubertech gizmos that need to be disabled and that it can only be done by pulling off the back panel and exposing it to tricorder radiation or something. They mess it up sometimes --- I can't tell you how many times they have me kill everyone on a ship before beaming out and blowing it up --- but mostly they know what needs to be done down to the smallest detail. And I just thought they were hired muscle.
