So, I've decided to try out PVP and, after a few rounds (and, like, five encounters with the same Fleet) and this is what I've managed to pick out as must haves and have nots with PVPing here:
* Ships that have a turn lower than a 7 is no good. The other ships will turn around and shoot you in your butt while you're trying to hit someone else.
* Your ship must have three Sci spots, one of them with Tractor Beam and one of them with Gravity Well
* If you use cannons, Rapid Fire > Scatter Shot.
* Gotta have Aux2Batt here.
* If you're using a Cruiser, gotta have BFAW
* To effectively humiliate defeat a player, you must:
** Hit them with a tractor beam
** Hit them with a Gravity Well
** You and your teammates activate BFAW
** Blast them
** Repeat, like, 15 more times
*** Say "gg" despite the fact that your opponents decided to have no mercy on your soul.
Is that what I'm seeing here? Because that's what I've gathered from my few romps through PVP
:-) that method gets kills, but its not much fun to do. I just like to shoot. I die most of the time. But sometimes I get in a dogfight with someone without all those said things and its hella fun.
dont tell anyone, but if you put 3 into dampeners GW does nothing to you but lower your frame rate ever so. if all you have done is pve though, you have been tought to play wrong, and have to unlearn a lot to do well in pvp. it ends up being much more fun then any pve content when you figure things out. but there is a lot that can be frustrating.
Arenas are the worst. Premades can do nasty things in arena.
At least in C&H you can go steal a flag, and get out of the ball of death. This will also spread the enemy out, if 1 or 2 chase you down.
Honestly it comes down to communication. I have been in pugs that beat premades just because someone stepped up amd called targets. Team speak is great for calling for heals and targets even more so. Jumping into the deep end is hard but years ago when I made the plunge I just pmed people with the highest scores in the match and asked them what they were doing. This led to 1v1s where I learned ALOT. And I am still doing this today. Making friends and teaming up with them betters your chances of winning. Now pvp is all I live for because pve is so boring by comparison.
The best way to PVP is, all of one team don't move, don't shoot and drop shields. Beause all get the same price anyway. 15-0 loose or win, does it matter? Just earn dilli fast this way and smile.
Here, you will see and experience things you never saw before, even in elite pve content of the game. Here, unlike in rest of the game, you should be prepared. Here, nobody can carry you. Here, you have to think not only for yourself, but also for your team. Here, teamwork counts more than ever. Here, you will win some and you will lose some. Here, not everything is made of peaches. Don't let the wins get to your head and losses get to your heart, and you will be fine
That being said, PvP subsection of forum has some nice guide, indexed and all. You might also wanna look up hilbert guide. Though it's a bit outdated, the basic concept is sound for starting out.
Yeah, to a new player PvP can be big scary and without mercy.
It gets better the more you play and the less stock you put on being defeated the easier it becomes.
With experience comes survival. With survival comes confidence.

If you have not, you might also wanna join COLOR="Cyan"]OrganizedPvP[/COLOR channel for advise and general chit-chat, and COLOR="Cyan"]TylerDurden[/COLOR which is where pug-made pvp matches usually happen.
