Spire Warp Cores

tonyalmeida2tonyalmeida2 Member Posts: 0 Arc User
I'm looking at the spire warp cores, and from what I can see the ones in the stores are Hybrids between the new 2 core types instead of being individual cores.

For those of you who don't know there are two new types of cores, the Deuterium Stabilized, and the Plasma Integrated.

In the spire fleet store, the only core that is shown is the Plasma Integrated, however its abilities are very strange, instead of it giving you the 100% increase to base regeneration rate of power levels, it gives you 66% increase to above said, and along with that it also gives you 10% drain resistance (when a common Deuterium Stabilized gives you 15%).

It also has been brought to my attention that perhaps the 15% drain resistance on the Deuterium Stabilized is currently not working, or if it is working it isn't working properly.

What I would like to see is that the two cores are both individually added to the fleet stores, along with keeping the current hybrid of the two (and change the name on it so people can tell the difference), and an investigation into whether or not the drain resistance on the Deuterium Stabilized cores is even working properly.

If they don't fix it I plan on getting one of the ones available as well, however I'd like to have individual options that do each one well instead of a hybrid. If they don't fix it, and with Cryptic's track record that is entirely possible/probable, I'd settle on a hybrid since they also have amp and the drain resistance sounds fantastic. The extra power transfer rate would also not be bad if you don't have any points in that skill.

Has anyone tested the drain resistance? Is it extra power insulation? Where would the 15% be applied to:

    Drain Resistance=(3*(0.25-(75/(150+DRM))^2)

(Yes, power insulators work like armor but for power drains)

Actually I went and tooltipped a few of them in the spire vendor. One glaring issue right off the bat I saw is they are ALL [Eff] On any of my builds that mod is completely useless. I am never below 75 in any subsystem when I am firing my weapons. (except for possibly my scimitar as I havent obtained leech for it yet, but after I have that, I would have zero use for EFF)

The fact none have SEP, and lose the bonuses to two subsystem levels has me quite dubious about them now. I guess they might do alright for a beamer that is struggling to stay at 125, but otherwise I dont think they are shaping up to be all that great.

Was under the impression that since [eff] was a bonus to Warp Core Efficiency, the bonus was determined by your base energy setting, not the actual end result, so that even your final shield energy is 120, the fact that you started at 25 means still a couple extra points of energy there?

Separately, has anyone gotten out the parser and specifically tested one of these cores yet (obviously not the Elite ones yet, but even the standard)? Specifically, I'm curious if 1) it works like a boost to Power Insulators and resists everything from Energy Siphon to NPC Tachyon Beams, and 2) if it makes any measurable difference on weapon drain mechanics?

I felt a little underwhelmed by the new spire cores (compared to the existing ones). Though, I'd say I'm fairly biased against them as i use the extra subsystem power.

I'm not convinced the devs would have made EVERY spire core [Eff] if it was totally useless, I seem to recall that even if your power level is over 75 (after mods) efficiency still counts upto that point meaning potential doesn't kick in until a bit later meaning you still get a higher power level, I'll have to test it sometime...
