Hi all

Looking for advice on Romulan ship selection for my lvl 50 Engineer toon. Currently flying the Obelisk Carrier and Ha'apax advanced Warbird...but not completely happy with either.

Willing to spend zen etc on whatever ship I choose..

TIA

If you like the heavy ships and you don't like the broadside attack then you could check the Scimitars (Scimitar, Falchion and Tulwar).
I'm also happy with the two adapted ships (the Adapted BC and the Adapted DD), but they are not readily available.
Yesterday I've acquired the Ar'Kif: it seems a capable ship, but I've not yet used, so I cannot say you anything of useful about this ship.

Bye / Qapla' / Jolan tru

Going with the assumption that you're not liking the slowness and lack of Tactical firepower, but still wanting some tankiness, how about the Mogai Retrofit? Much faster, enough to use dual-heavy cannons well, and still decently tanky with Lt. Commander Engineer and Lt. Universal Bridge Officer spots.

I have the Fleet Mogai Retrofit with the two C-Store Mogai consoles on my Engineer and I like it quite a bit. The Valdore (T3 C-Store Mogai refit) console is a great console that adds a bit of tank to any ship and the Mogai Retrofit (T5 C-Store) is a nice bit of burst damage to a Mogai, once you understand how to use it best effect(wait for Ionic Charge on target, pop an Aux batt and any buffs before firing). Those two consoles together on the ship reduce the amount power that weapons drain from your Weapons subsystem as well as giving +5 Weapon power, which helps increase DPS. The Fleet version of the Mogai gives 10% more hull HP, 10% more shields and an additional Engineering console spot.

Scimitar for punch, but thats really all the Scimitar does. Personally I've been extremely happy with my D'deridex, as it has the toughness and firepower of a tactical cruiser, but can also pull a few sci tricks, and just looks good. Thats assuming you like the cruiser-ish gameplay though.

I'm a sci captain who spends all their time in sci ships... but every day I grow more tempted to jump into the dd just because it is that sexy.
