Happy holidays and such fellow Captains! I've been trying to make this thread for awhile, but just now got time.

My main is an engi, and I have tons of different ships, but Cruisers have always been my niche. I've used pretty much the same build for years now, but I never had the BOFF layouts or console setups to make my dream builds until recently (with the advent of rep gear passives and set bonuses, etc.) So now that I'm finalizing these builds, I thought I'd share some of the useful tweaks and combos I've discovered over the past 3 years and change.

I'd also like to see what other directions you've taken with the ship. Always fun bouncing ideas and concepts off fellow cruiser jockeys. I took a pretty long break from STO around the time F2P came along b/c I hit a wall as far as build progression was concerned. But when I returned, there were all these shiny new Fleet versions of my babies! Needless to say, I got hooked again.

I started my cruiser builds in the Excelsior Refit way back when, and then bounced back and forth between her and my Assault Cruiser. Once back, I immediately got both fleet versions and ground thru all 3 reps. Thankfully, I had several full Mk XI Assimilated sets from the old Borg STF's in the bank along with other endgame goodies from pre-PWE.

Then as I was getting caught up with my new and improved builds, the Avenger Class dropped and added a new wrinkle to the cruiser game. I played it for awhile and picked up some new ideas for my main ladies.

This post has gone on a lot longer than I was expecting, so I'll wrap up story time and put the actual specs and such in a new post....

    As it was always my go-to ship, I've done most of my building on the FACR. I found it's the most versatile setup-wise, and I could adapt it more easily to different content and enemy types.

    The basic premise of my build works around maintaining high weapon power levels using DCE doffs for EPTW and procs from Omega Weapon Amplifier procs along with the EPS traits, Nadion Inversion, and EPS Power transfer. Depending on the encounter, it reaches above 8k DPS regularly, but it's built primarily with self-healing and pressure dmg in mind.

    Weapon load outs vary as to what I'm in the mood for. For max Dmg, I'll load 4x Fleet Antiproton DBB's with the KCB and omni-directional AP beam turret to max out my fwd firing arc. I mostly do this when I have to pull Kang duty in CSE or when team DPS looks lowish.

    Most times tho, I'll run 7x Fleet Phaser Arrays + KCB or add in 1-2 phaser DBB's for added punch up front.

    For Boffs:
    Cmdr Eng: EPTW1, RSP1, EPTS3, and A2SIF3
    Lt. Eng: ET1, and A2ID1
    LtC Tac: BFAW1, APB1, and TT3
    Ens Tac: BFAW1
    Lt. Uni (Sci): HE1, and TSS2

    Doffs are:
    2x purple Conn Officers (TT CD reduction)
    2x purple DCE (EPTX CD reduction)
    1 Warp Core ((Debuff Cleanse on EPTX))

    Looking forward to the 6th active doff from the spire!

    Tac Consoles: 4x energy type I'm using (MkXI blue atm)
    Sci Consoles: Assimilated Module, Plasmonic Leech
    Eng Consoles: 2x Fleet Neutronium + Turn, Zero-point Console, and either Tachyokinetic Converter or Fleet RCS + AllRes.

    She's a great tank, and can do a ton of damage if needed, but I prefer being able to toss a team heal or clean a Debuff if someone gets in trouble.

    I run the Assimilated Mk XI deflector/engine combo with Elite Fleet Resilient Shields [Cap]x2 [ResB] [Adapt]. I switch between an Advanced Fleet Warp Core [W->S] and the Obelisk Warp Core when running AP. I'm holding out for the Spire Elite Cores with [AMP]. Drain resistance + AMP should be sweet!

    Well, that's what I've got! I know it isn't A2B awesome sauce , but it's my fun-boat!

    Curious to see what ideas the rest of you folks have. I'm always tinkering with it, so I welcome constructive criticism. Just not A2B, that what my Excelsior is for :)

    I use TT3 b/c of the near 100% uptime and it also buffs APB1. I don't use BFAW exclusively and prefer the constant benefit to a situational spike in dmg.

    Edit; I also use epts3 as is works with my power settings to push all 4 subsystems past the AMP threshold.
