Having problems with The Breach?

dragnridrdragnridr Member Posts: 671 Arc User
Ok, I know there are other ways to run the Breach, but after many run throughs, I have figured out a pattern to at least the Normal version of the Breach. Now, don't get me wrong, I am not perfect, nor am I a "hardcore gamer".

Tip 1: at the start, have everyone pick a route and run that route. Understand that the jetstreams will increase your speed 2-5x (not sure how much)...SLOW DOWN. Hit as many hardpoints as soon as possible.

Tip 2: the Voth heavy turrets surrounding the nodes ARE HARD. They hit VERY HARD. Strafe and hit and run tactics work the best.

Tip 3: When going to the rally point, beam fire at will abilities will shine because you need to clear out 35 (or more for elite) hardpoints to open the hull of the tower.

Tip 4: In the first room, CLOSE THE HANGERS and RESCUE the ships FIRST, before trying to clear out the room. otherwise you will face endless waves.

Tip 5: In the second room, there is a dreadnought at the other end of the room. IGNORE it until ALL SHIPS have been rescued and the room has been cleared of other Voth ships.

Tip 6: The Voth dreadnought is not hard. Just tank and spank. When it pops it's shields up, DO NOT SHOOT THE SHIELDS. The shields will retaliate HARD. Either wait them out, or go to the other side of the ship.

Tip 7: in the next/3rd room, are 3 power cores. IGNORE THEM. DO NOT OPEN THE RELAYS until the room is cleared out and all ships are rescued.

Tip 8: once the power relay room is cleared, WATCH YOUR FIRE!!!! DO NOT SHOOT FIRST! Open one relay at a time. If the power core has a ? next to the name, DO NOT SHOOT IT. It will send a sort of feedback pulse that will hit EVERYONE with DOT. Only shoot the core that does not have a ?

Tip 9: The final room contains the main core. It doesn't do alot of damage, but it can teleport you next to it. Just move away and tank and spank.

Tip 10: You enter the last room through the EAST door. After the core is destroyed, the exit is WEST on the map. Follow the exit WEST to the hole you made in the tower and the rewards will await.

This is the best advice I can give. If anyone has any better ideas, please, post them. I have not run the Elite version of The Breach, but I think these tips might help even new players.

An Excellent outline for what to do . As far as elite goes, you'll find the ships you should rescue will have about half the SIF as they do on normal when your in Elite. Apart from that an the power core , supbpower core an dreadnaught having more hit points , Elite really isn't that much harder then normal . On a good elite run without the bonus mark event if you save all 9 ships and the whole team makes it to safety . you will earn 78 marks, plus 1 implant plus a bit of dilithium . 83 marks during bonus mark event, plus the rest of the usual rewards . . with a choice of fleet marks or Dyson marks as your reward :) .

    cheers

When fighting the Core watch out for it's "Shield facing overload" debuff, if you get it one of your shield facings is now useless until the debuff is cleared. I think it's engineering team, not sure. So adjust fire, and put a different shield facing between you and your target.

Actually I've found both engineering team and emergency power to shields will both clear the shield facing debuff

Another tip: Stay low or high (low makes it easier to reach the door at the end, though). Unless I've been misinterpreting what I've been seeing, it's entirely possible to shoot under or over the rotating barriers. And don't get inside the radius of the rotating shields, because it will kill you, and fast.

Also, when you play it on Elite, the structural integrity field nodes on the exterior portion are guarded by Bulwark-class battleships, where they aren't on normal. Don't try to take on both the battleship and the turrets at the same time unless your ship is super-tough. Target the turrets first and then worry about the battleship.

The "facing shield overload" Never bothered me, cause I always kept power to shields and engi team ready to go on a moments notice, but yeah. If ignored that itself can do some serious damage. I always kept jam sensors hitting it, so it is forced to ignore me for a short time.

I always seem to get hit with it AFTER I've already used EptS..... EptS doesn't seem to prevent it, apparently it only clears it.
