Sphere of Influence keeps nagging at me every time I re-run it, like we're missing something...
I already got the swarmers, and the 2 accolades, so it isn't that...
Those ramps on the map that we can't extend... those keep nagging at me...
They don't usually put extraneous stuff like that with no purpose. All those missions where we're on a station or something? There is usually only 1 route possible to go through... (and who designs a building like that anyways!?! but I digress...)
On the map tho, it shows an area inside that platform in "The Other Side" part of the feature... with different colored bits, apparently matching the colors used on the existing platforms we have to activate, as well as when we're doing the Merlin thing at the computer at the final platform...
So... ok... maybe they originally intended us to start inside, but changed their mind later, leaving whatever is inside unfinished... I could buy that. I'm still curious to see what is in there, but I could let that go...
I could... except for one thing... sensor scan (V key) is picking up something inside.
Now, we all know sensor scan doesn't point us to anything unless it is something we need to interact with, and it is pointing inside. So...
We're missing something, and I'm even more curious about that starting platform than I was, even before accidentally hitting the sensor scan key a few hours ago.
I've been trying to find some way of opening that door, or climbing around to the other side, or perhaps getting onto another platform with walkways on the map, that we can't extend from the main path, and I haven't found anything yet.
So...
WTF is the sensor scan telling us we need to interact with in there?
Actually might have figured this out the other day -
I'm affected by 18897741. I can't get in-game on my computer. So I loaded the game onto the household spare so I could get on and claim the Solanae tribble.
On a whim, I took a character to the Sphere to check it out.
Interestingly enough, the actual floorspace of the Dyson Joint Command Center has a very familiar map... Not floor-map where you're moving your character, but mini-map and M-key map. If you'll look, you'll notice that there's a bunch of pathways and whatnot on the map. Familiar looking pathways...
If I'm right, the DJC Center spire is where you ended up in Sphere of Influence and all the 'paths' that we can't access during that part of SoI are the DJC Center... How and why, I don't know...
"If you can't take a little bloody nose, maybe you ought to go back home and crawl under your bed. It's not safe out here. It's wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross; but it's not for the timid." -- Q, TNG: "Q-Who?"
^Words that every player should keep in mind, especially whenever there's a problem with the game...
Yes it does seem very incomplete... Case in point being the incomplete voice-overs. It's really annoying that most of them only involve the character speaking about 1/4th of their displayed dialogue.

Probably a design shortcut. 1 less map to put textures into. Can't blame them, really. Almost all of this "Season" feels like it was thrown together. There are space missions that don't specify objective points on the map (or explain in detail who to talk to or where to go). There are ground issues, such as the ones you mentioned. And holes in the battlezone leading to absolutely nothing (I posted pics a while back). Some of the DOff missions I do in the sphere say "Critical" rather than "Critical Success." I could go on.
I think they just needed something to buy them time to come up with something interesting. Their solution was a new rep and a new grind. This is their idea of "content." Anything to keep us busy.
My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.

I don't think it's the same facility - the SoI facility is implied to be the subspace storage facility mentioned on one of the consoles (the first dead-end "branch" console if I remember correctly).
The shared architecture between the SoI facility and the Spire indicates that they were both constructed by the Solanae aliens.
...talking to players is like being a mall Santa. Everyone immediately wants to tell you all of the things they want, and you are absolutely powerless to deliver 99% of them.
