the universal voth console tier 1 reward

so can anyone help me out why the reward for finishing the first tier of the new rep is a universal console that increases PROTON damage when there are no PROTON weapons in the game? Makes no sense

    So Proton enhances ANTIproton?

That seems backwards...sounds like saying hot is the same as cold.

Those are polaron damage based. The proc on them is proton damage I believe...Not enough damage to justify using a console slot IMO.

Hint: browse ahead toward other parts of the set in T3 or T4 (T2 is the gravimentic photon torpedo).

And even if the experimental weapon is not proton damage than there's proton damage from various consoles.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Despite what a weapons name implies always look in the description for the exact dmg type it inflicts to better understand what is needed. With a name like protonic polaron odds are it is either going to do antiproton or polaron dmg, but there is that 1% instance of a unique or exotic dmg types.

I noticed that myself; the Voth beams look like the current AP one but the text all states proton everywhere.

So the question still stands, will it improve the current AP weapons or not?

Proton and Anti-Proton are two difference damage types. So Proton consoles will not increase anti-proton damage. the Proton Consoles are meant to increase the Proton damage proc of the Polaron Protonic Rep weapons and the Experimental Proton Weapon from the Weapon set.

Its still a useful console, even with out enjoying the 13% proton damage. 3% power to Engines, 3% weapons,17 points in EPS. Its basically 3 consoles in 1, its a Plasma Distrubution Manifold, an Injector Assembly, and an ESP Relay, if you have the Gravimetric Torp it becomes a Photon Detonation Assembly as well, and plus crit bonus and so on.

Stuff like this is why people get confused.

Protonic Polaron does Polaron damage with Protonic procs... not Antiproton procs.

Antiproton and Proton damage are two totally different damage types.

Because somewhere later in the tiers you can get an experimental proton weapon mk xii.
At tier 1 and/or tier 2 you can pick up the other two pieces that go with the expimental proton weapon; universal console proton particle stabilizer and the gravimetric photon torpedo launcher mk xii.

P.S. - Just checked...that space experimental proton weapon mk xii unlocks ar tier 4...

It looks the Voth rep is a good way to quickly gear your fresh 50 for those totally new to the game. Anyone who knows better isn't going to equip that junk. I do suppose it is more than enough for PvE,

That said, white MK X gear is probably enough for PvE too.

I've started a collection of the Dyson Rep consoles that you sometimes can get has rewards for filling rep projects and the one that I like the most is the 13.5% Cannon Weapon Damage, 2.5% Accuracy with 15% Proton damage console.

I figure that somewhere down the road Cryptic will be introducing more pure Proton damage based weapons for space and if Cannons or Dual Heavy Cannons show up the consoles have accuracy bonuses that stack not to mention + 13.5 damage for cannon weapons and + 15% Proton damage will = 28.5% damage for Proton Cannons.

The consoles will go from being junk to one of the most useful consoles in the game.

I?m hoping to get 5 for each of my Characters that use cannon class weapons ;)

Sadly the only pure Proton damage space weapon that we have no is the one fron the Rep and we can only have one of them.

Ever heard of the Experimental PROTON Weapon that you get at Tier III of the Dyson Rep? There's your proton weapon, and it's pure proton, it's not like the Protonic polaron weapons.

I am not sure the stats will trigger the way you think they do. It is a boost to base damage and not total damage like AP 10% boost from Obelisk set (for example).

As always, runs some stats and see. I just don't see anyone giving up the new 30+ point tac consoles from Spire with +Crit. Those will totally rule. And as for the other consoles, it is already a pretty full plate in terms of universal and engineering consoles. Here is a quick list:

    1. 2 or 3 (RCS or Armor consoles with +Turn or +Hull) - Eng slots full
    2. Plasmonic leech, valdore(roms), Tach console, Assimilated console, ... etc
    3. 4-5 tac consoles

    ...

The T4 Experimental Proton weapon hits like a wet sock at ~900 DPS with the T1 dyson console present. My AP DHC's deal 1580DPS each.

Yes, the Experimental Proton weapon needs a damage upgrade.

The only thing that the console has going for it is if you use it with the Rep Photon torpedo and run a Photon Torp boat you get 22.9% Photon Torp damage for using the 2 piece.

I don't have the gear together, but combine the photon specific bonus from Protonic Arsenal with "Tactical Readiness" 2 piece bonus from the KHG/Adapted MACO set, which gives +25% generic torp damage. Then toss in some TAC Consoles to further boost it, if you choose to do so.
