I find the missions in the Sphere to be a tad confusing

brewtolomusbrewtolomus Member Posts: 277
I'm in the middle of one mission, then another one starts, and then I get a pop-up message on the left side of my screen telling me to go somewhere else.

Very frustrating.

It doesn't flow like virtually every other mission I've played so far.
Seems like whoever designed the mission layout has ADHD.

"Here, go inspect some mines for the nice Klingon. LOOK! A VOTH SHIP! ATTAAAACK! But first, go over here and dissipate some ion storms."

there are different types of missions in the sphere. the standard missions, which you hail for a contact, or fidn the contact on the map.

then there are "found" missions, these missions are gettable on a timer, basically when their icons on the map are orange, you can get them, when they are grey, you cant.

then there are the Event missions (which were found on nimbus as well.) these spawn when either certain conditions are met, or just occur randomly, these missions are usually timed, dont worry if you mis them, they will come back again, usually 2-3 event missions in an area.

you dont have to do every mission when it pops up, take your time and you can get them all done without running around like a chicken with your head cut off.

    I see.
That makes more sense. I guess for veteran players it's not confusing, but for this newb, I was getting pretty damn aggravated.

yes, though some missions pick a bad time to come up, especially in the contested map. it sucks when your facing the dreadnoughts and an event comes up, because then that'll split the people fighting,a s some will want ot get the other objective done.

the sphere areas are meant to be explored out. bring up the minimap in a sphere sector and hover your mouse over one of the many small icons. so just look around see what you can find to help you out.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

I didnt get it immediately on my first time in there either. I got the quest inside the command center then i started following that cause it seemed like a 'tour guide' type quest, then i started running into random missions in the area. It's very easy to get side tracked if you fly past a location that has a mission. They also used different symbols on the map and at first i didnt know that the 3 sided infinite loop whatever symbol was the symbol for quest. The key / legend wasnt also immediately visible at the bottom of the screen and i didnt notice it until about my second hour in the zone.

A bit confusing. Will probably take some getting used to I would imagine.

I enjoy exploring new maps, but when I accept a mission with objectives I demand that I be told where to go to complete the damn thing.

I went into the sphere earlier and while exploring I was offered a mission to do something with some gas clouds. I accepted but couldn't find any clouds around where I was. I checked the map and no location was marked to let me know where the clouds might be found. Fine. So I started flying around looking for targetable clouds. Finally found some and scanned them. Voth uncloaked, I blew them up, and learned they weren't the right clouds. At that point I've been wasting my time for 35 minutes. TRIBBLE that, I have better things to do with my time.
Um, wasn't the cloud location marked on the map? It was every time I did it.

I don't bother with the random quests. I did some of them, they were annoying and the reward was ridiculous. Now, I blow stuff and earn a lot more.
I just take the "kill some Voths" quest in the contested zone, you have several NPCs that follow you, and I'm going to kill some Voths anyway.
