I've been thinking recently of rolling yet another KDF. It'll be a tac in the Karfi battle carrier (i know i shouldn't). I already plan on it using AP weapons (the 360* and rare mk 11's from SOI) and resilient shields. i have no plans for fleet gear on this toon. I havent decided on whether to use chroniton, transphasic, or tricobalt torps (trying to keep it similar to the fekihri NPC ships). I know in skills that i want to use tykens and grav well, but other than that, id like it to still be able to act like the NPC versions [see links below]. Any tips or ideas?
[links] for the npc karfi with its skills: http://sto.gamepedia.com/Kar%27Fi_Battle_Carrier_(mob)

for the standard karfi http://sto.gamepedia.com/Kar%27Fi_Battle_Carrier

The purpose for this build is to keep it as true to the NPC version wile still being able to have fun in it

I've been running a tac-ish Kar'Fi build for a few months now. I've been really happy with single cannon tetryons and Fer'Jai's to unload their devastating tricobalt payloads after my tet's have stripped the shields. Other than one EptE (which you might want to slot an EptW instead) and a Viral Matrix in the Com. Sci slot for lack of anything better, all I run is a standard CRF/APB build with a bunch of heals.
Pretty much always get 1st in CCE.

Keep thinking maybe I should switch that VM to a Gravwell since they got buffed, could even be worth using with no ranks in particle gens nowadays.

What kind of budget -- EC, Lobi? Are you deadset against Fleet gear, or just want to avoid spending a bunch to fill all your slots with Fleet gear? Are you up on the various Reputations? Any C-Store unlocks?

A quick Cheapy AP and Transphasic build with all stuff available via missions or the Exchange:

Then use Conn Officer DOffs to reduce the cooldown of the Tac Team (2x blue and a green would be cheap, 2x purple would be optimal.)

Budget is EC and an items i can get from missions. Deadset against fleet gear because, despite the supposed superiority of fleet items, I've never noticed much difference.. The toon wont have any of the rep items until a long tome from now (at least a year due to other priorities). C-store unlocks are the guramba, the orion ships, and the karfi itself.

If you can get by without turning, just 2x Mk XI blue Neutroniums will do OK. However, with he Dil Mine consoles, 1x Enhanced RCS[ResAll] and 1x Enhanced Neutronium[turn] would let you both turn and to live, and thus well worth their price on ship with so few engineering spots and low turnrate, IMO, but I can see wanting to skip them on low-priority toon. Edit: Actually ignore the hybrid Dil Mine consoles for a beam boat like I posted, I was thinking of a DHC build to take advantage of the soon to be cheap Voth AP, to match up with Mob version firing cannons, as well as my main build which uses Disruptor DHCs.

If you ever pick up the Vandal Destroyer, the Kar'fi can make a great drain platform when equipped with Plasmonic Leech (though it can without, along with it is even better).
