starship and space combat ideas

captainskybladecaptainskyblade Member Posts: 57 Arc User
This may be a good idea/ideas when doing space combat.

Why do we have Starship bridges or even pay money for them with zen if we dont get to play them in space combat.

The only time most people go to there bhridge and starship interior is basicly never becouse whats the point you never really go inside what im proposing in space combat.

why not be in your inside your bridge when your inside your ship such as in the movies the captain uses the main view screen in combat and we should be able to move around the camera and actully give orders to your crew.

also we should be able to see your ship get hit when you are in combat ( inside of ship).

we aslo shoul be able to tell your nav crew to go to that location is also we should be able two tell order your crew do certain tasks to make your starships bridge more alive and fun after all your the captain.

such as some of the things we should order them is damage report or injuries or even tell them to engage.

also why cant we use are startrek tech such as ordering are ships computer to do things.

also why cant are turbolifts act like actull turbolifts you know so the turbolifts just wont just load you to a new place when you could actully walk in it and tell it to stop and every now and then have some random crew member to enter the turbolift with you.

Theres all this startrek technology we never get to use.

Plus any way why cant we interact with are crew and the crew interact with you after all your the captain not just random ensign crew member and they dont treat you with respect.

Also why do we have a ten foward (fed) or dining room (kdf) if we dont have any waitors/waitreses.

also why do we have all these crew with out any private quaters. also why do we have captains quaters if we cant control the decoration to your likeings and ajust the ligthing and where are your bridge crew private quaters.

and why dont we have working holodeck that we can program Mabey they are alrealdy programmed with certain holodecks projections such projection like relaxaxtion ones or even have combat projections.

we would have all of these becouse i nthe movies starships really never go to starbases unlees for missions or rest or repairs.

we have all these trade ships that we can trade and we could ahve personal taliors and stuff in your starship.

also we have transporters but why cant they be more realistick and we have duty officers but why dont we see them in the crew when we walk then the duty officers do have names but we never see them.

plus starships have shuttle bays why cant we enter are shuttle bay its a starship.

after all a starshi pis like a home to there captain and crew.

these ideas are just to make the game more star trek related and startrek realistic.

wow. That is horrible. Stopped at "1." If you want people to read your thoughts, try not to kill them with insane lack of grammar of any kind. Kthxbye.
Please reconsider ARC. Please make it optional, at the least. PLEASE.
It seems the vast majority of your most active players (forum regulars) hate the idea... and while that's a small subset of the playerbase, I think it's an important constituency.
THE PLAYERS DO NOT WANT THIS.

Then it was an...interesting try. But it makes this unitelligible without a major rewrite.;)

because the game engine cannot have both of your avatars exist in the same place at the same time. if yoru captain is on the bridge and the hsip is in combat, and yoru experiencing combat through first person view from the ship, you got both your avatars in one place and will break things.

Long story short, star trek online is not a star trek simulator where you run around and act like you are in a movie or tv show. It is an action game. You are never going to see bridge-based combat because that would require them to rewrite the whole game from step 1. If they were going to rewrite the whole game they would simply make star trek online 2.

They are not going to put all your duty officers in your crew because they are not really part of your crew. They have no bodies, no animations. They are just random faces on a tab. The doff system is an add on system designed to emulate some of the nonsensical features you see on various facebook type games.

As for more rooms on starships, for what? You already have many rooms you can do nothing in. Why do we need more? Since the game is not a simulator more rooms simply means more empty space.

ok... for some of this... This game isnt "Bridge commander online" so dont treat it as such, or hope this game will be like it, it wont.

a lot on that list are either engine limitations, or the fact that the Dev's dont have time to add what mst people call "fluff" Maybe some of those ideas, like the shuttlebay will show up when/if they ever make the interiors useful.

This isnt a Star Trek Simulator. they wont re-create every little detail of every little aspect in the game.

    This.

    Longer response:

it simply does NOT work with the underlying game system.
Would need to rework the WHOLE combat system from scratch, meaning you need to redesign the game as a whole, i mean sure, dear OP and others who think its such a "cool" idea, hand the devs lets say 15 Million Dollar and i am sure, they do it.

It is about being a realist. Cryptic only has so much manpower. If the art team is doing new ship interiors they are not doing new mission interiors. If the animation team is working on putting your doffs into your ship then they are not working on new enemies to fight in missions.

MMO design is a teetar totter. To get something you want something someone else wants will be delayed. You go up, they go down. It is better to ask for things that are useful to everyone, like new missions.

IMO, the best way to get that "Star Trek" feel would be with a cutscene that temporarily interrupted the combat to let you interact with your bridge crew or other NPC's.

The problem with that is, I wouldn't want to start all over on a new map but rather pick up the action in space where I left off. I don't think the game engine has the ability to do that. And even if it did, it wouldn't work well for STF's or PvP.
