Startrek online space combat idea

This may be a good idea/ideas when doing space combat.

1.Why do we have Starship bridges or even pay money for them with zen if we dont get to play them in space combat. The only time most people go to there bhridge and starship interior is basicly never becouse whats the point you never really go inside what im proposing in space combat why not be in your inside your bridge when your inside your ship such as i nthe movies the captain uses the main view screen in combat and be able to move around the camera and actully give orders to your crew and see your ship get hit such as telling your nav crew and everything to order them to fire that or engage or even use manull ship controller and telling your computer what to do just to make your starship more active and use your technology of startrek more active and the turbolifts to actully move inside and stop at diffrent locations becouse we have all this stuff in the ship but we never can use it and you can interact with your crew and the would interact with you and why do we have a ten foward or a dining room if we dont have any servers and all these quaters and private qauters why dont we have buttons and ringers to push to enter and captains quaters why cant we control and decorate it to your likeings and ajust the ligthing and your bridge officers why cant they interact like real bridge cre wand have there own personal quarters that you may ring to enter just to make it more realistic for the ship becouse we never really enter the ship and holodecks why cant we program or have holodecks that actully work and we can load holodecks and relax or have combat or personal training and also going to starbases left becouse in startrejk movies starships really never go to starbases unlees for missions or rest or repairs we have all these trade ships and actully have more working transporters you know jsut to make shi plife better and more realistic and fun and more sifi and get use out of your bridge and stuff to make it more realistic instead of just going to starbases and stuff we have assec to all this stuff but dont get any use out of them some people pay zen for bridges but never use them and also have more assecc to more decks then just 3 and actully have escape pod rooms or just more rooms to make starships more fun you know respond if you agree and these are good ideas to make it more realistic and more use out of your bridges and stuff becouse we captain starships but it feels like were not captains of a shi pat all when you do enter your bridge your crew meets and walks past like nothing like they dont care there captain is coming thats all i have to sya for now i have more to write but it is kinda long right now. feel free to add any other ideas.

first off, PLEASE get some grammar, spell check, and and Enter key. 1 massive paragraph is hard on the eyes. X_X

first off, we don't fight with a bridge view of our ship because 1. that'd make fighting impossibly difficult, and 2. the engine of the game would have to be completely changed to be at all functional. there's just no good way to make something like this work. we're not playing Bridge Commander online, its Star Trek online. the differences are so endless they outnumber the grammatical errors in your post 2 to 1.

holodecks don't work because cryptic is too busy making things people didn't ask for to make things that fit star trek. besides, if anything they'd be another cash shop social modification that would never be used, and not worth the time for them. unless they made a whole season based around interior combat/mechanics, 90% of the stuff we want to use in our ships just have no purpose for a MMO. if you really want to play around roleplay wise and enjoy the fun of random holodeck simulations, exploring the interior of the ship, and talking to your crew, try another star trek game. elite force expansion pack had a pretty nice virtual ship option, i recommend that game.

i contest your statement about ships not going to starbases often. the enterprise, which was a front-line ship, meaning it was usually as far out as they were allowed to explore, and the Enterprise STILL went to starbases often. there's alot of episodes of them going to a starbase, dropping off stuff, picking up more stuff, having shore leave, getting repairs, etc. in STO we're doing the same thing. we go to starbases for repairs, supplies, and shore leave. using cargo ships wouldnt work because no one wants to go to a cargo ship for shore leave, and they arent mobile depots to pick up whatever you want when you feel like it, so picking up supplies doesnt really make that much sense in this case.

though i do agree, sometimes i wish there was actually a point to visiting your bridge aside from just getting a multitude of pointless Doff missions.

There are numerous forum threads that explain this in greater detail. However, briefly, the reason you can't travel/fight/etc. from the bridge of your ship is that, from the POV of the game engine, your ship is you. When you are "dirtside" the avatar for your character is your toon. When you are in space (anywhere) the avatar for your character is your ship. You can't be two avatars at the same time in the same place.

There are plans to do MUCH more with the bridge and ship interiors in future. But that will entail massive and long term construction projects. Patience, young Jedi. Good things come to those who wait... :P
*STO* It’s mission: To destroy strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations... and then kill them, to boldly annihilate what no one has annihilated before!

If you're really serious about fighting your ship from the bridge, look up the old game, Star Trek: Bridge Commander. There was an option to get an exterior view there and I mostly played with the Bridge View set to Off. I want to look at my ship when it is sailing through the stars. And Saafi was so very very annoying, lol.

Apparently, most other people do as well. None of the series or films shied away from an exterior shot either when presented with an opportunity. Shinzon's Scimitar isn't nearly as menacing in Star Trek:Nemesis with a view restricted to the Bridge only.

This being said, I would like to be able to do a few more things from the Bridge than I currently can. But if such never happens, I'm okay with it.

    Everything before the ellipsis, unnecessary.

    Everything after the ellipsis, constructive.
