Elite difficulty->Some ground enemies OP?

radagast75radagast75 Member Posts: 333 Arc User
Anyone else having problems with certain mobs while others are just a butter in a sun type? There are certain mobs in ground like Klinbgon Swordmasters with munition officer, added by officer which just feel bit too powerful.

Earlier this week as tac officer all was well until there was Swordmaster which cuts everyone down very fast, if focuse to kill that, other mobs swarm me or pick my boffs one by one. If trying to kill small mobs first, a swordmaster will take care of stuff. If i try to keep my boff attack others while i draw swordmaster away, those my boffs are not attacking swarm me with ranged.

There are few Romulan mobs that mix the tactics as well, amybe too many opponents? Dont know. It was over a yer when i last played i think. Back then ground combat on elite felt pretty good, hard but fine since you could controll stuff well.

In space, there is only Mogul heavy warbird and higher tal shier ships that seem too powewrful with their plasma dual beams.

In Ground i could do any mission with few deaths when i was tac, with engineering it was pretty survuvable. With science which i now play, i just cant past the first group with officer, swordmaster and 2 warriors. It does not feel a big pack and i can get first warrior down before they get to me. If i try only to heal my team, they swarm me. If i do nothing they swarm me. Even if my tank boff has draw fire and use it when obvious, they just interest in me, they dont want anything to do with my boffs it seems.

I tried different tactics like killoing one at time and escape but controlling boffs is just nightmare, cant do it well. They dont seem to focus on target even if i continuously trty to click "Team attack my target"

I have been prettu succesful in beating any pve scenario witjh tactics in the past but now that i returned, there just has been many situations where some mobs feel too powerful while other are too weak.

Is the game left unpolished and unbalanced in last yer?

Meanwhile there is many new items in ZEN store...

Am i alone with this problem? Anyone else arrogant enough to think they wrere good in the past but now they cant survive it all?

elties always been a pain for ground combat. it especially hurts when you got multiple medics in one group.

Some enemies are stronger than others, and it's elite, so you will get killed at least once by these mobs.

Space is easy no matter the difficulty, but ground is a different story. I always increase the difficulty if I know I'm not going ground, otherwise, I leave it alone.
Retired. I'm now in search for that perfect space anomaly.

perphaps ground and space should have separate difficulties. This would be easiest way to solve a perphaps broken mechanic in ground to give them more time to develop ZEN stuff...

But seriously. No matter the build and with decent at least green stuff in any slot on me and my boffs, with numerous tactics and trying and testing, it just feels there is something wrong.

By the way, if i choose elite, i am not expecting better loot, i expect harder gameplay where you just have to know what you are doing. I may be bad player but i will not accept that. Bad players often just run and shoot headlong. I think of strategies and styles to overcome enemies. It just is not working in all occasionans. Sometimes it feels certain mob is too strong and sometimees it seems like a lack of crowd control.

Sometimes it is just plain game mechanics when a rock is blocking enemy from sight or enemy goes inside a wall... Sometimes its the fabulous dodge system that makes you stuck in mid dodge when something gets in your way. In ground everything is not okay is what i feel.

It is also bit of stupid that when you almost get some strategy to work, the enemies just reset to default location plus dead comes back alive if you try to draw them too far. They dont beam anywhere, they just reset.

Then these situations when away team goes to strike and just refuse to follow you (Bad followpath/level design)

What is this crying about? When the game launched you would beam down to a ground mission only to face mobs 30+ levels higher than you.

Actually i would be ok with as many defeats if they be only represented as retreats rather than dying. Especially in space, exploding ship is just absurd. Respawning back is even more absurd.

Space should be represented as emergency warp out of battle with beaten ship and then a "Repair" time as death penalty and corresponding "Injuries" plus top of that, youd have to replenish hull and shields yourself.. Maybe even wait until enough crew is healed.

In ground it could be presented as ship beaming you away from battle, to last respawn point. Corresponding injuries applied plus you have to heal your tieam before continuing.

If it be like that, it would be ok.

But then again, with all the effort put on changing that, they could actually balance the whole PVE setting back to nominal condition.

Or better yet... add some more "cosmetic" stuff to ZEN store >_<

Mobs with Pyschic powers like Remans and Undine are definitely overpowered on Elite, while others you have to be cautious with.

Tholian Captains are OP on Normal difficulty. I've never tried those NR tier missions on Elite. I do not want to meet an Elite Tholian Captain alone.

On Elite, I second third and fourth the mention of mobs with psionic attacks. Reman and Undine Captains. They will one-shot you with their brain.

We did not have to be grouped with anyone. Cryptic borked up ground all by their own selves.

    1) You need the right gear to handle ground. Think of ground the same way you think of space. You need to find the right active doffs, the right kit, the right boff setup the right weapons (my favorite polarons or phasers rainbows are as bad ground as they are in space) ..... ......give you more direct control of their powers. You will have to change the power tray to make it look like the one in space though, to get more room.

6)If you do the above, even a little bit, you will pretty much sail through most ground content, even on the elite setting.

    Hope this helps.

Very helpful, thank you. I think the most problematic for me is to pick right targets first. TThings like munitions officers, medics and something pointing to engineer is always the first ones.

Then is my gear. This is propably the most lacking +part for me. There is so many in my team to gear and i actually forget to update my gear even for me at times >_<

I will consider this better when i have slept over it :)

Did bit of experiment before quitting for today and the most annoying part which was bad team control got fixed when i just told them to stand in back of a hallway and then wait until i draw enemies to that corridor where they cant hide behind cover. Even if i just let them stand in the designated place, my boffs actually got much more done than before and death percentage dropped about 70% :)

I also replaced a redshirt in my team to my chief medical officer so there be two healers plus other scientist to handle buffs and such (Tricorder scan as you mentioned as well. Then just engineer to recharge shields and applying weapons malfunction. And a lone Klingon to take care of brawl.

    This worked quite well.

Put 2 engineer Boffs on the away team. make sure they have med generator and shield generator. have them drop those before combat and park yourself right on them(good weapon choice is a High density with extra kickback, has the range for setting up your bunker and the kickback helps get the swordmasters away from you. plus it will vaporise when low health using the exploit). Focus fire from that point on the boss while your BOFF's deal with everything alse. Thats my go to strategy for tough enemies. Since you are playing a sci grab the medic kit and use the AOE heals, helps keep the BOFF's alive and yourself.

For Romulans... target and kill the pesky medics before anything else. Nothing worse than a medic reviving the NPC you just killed and healing the one you are now shooting. No medics then its just dodge plasma grenades while killing everyone.
