It seems that they seem to vary as you go higher up. For instance, a disruptor sniper rifle at low rank looks a hell of a lot different than the higher ones, and sometimes, not for the better IMHO. So, just wondering if anyone has a gallery that shows the different weapon models by rank?
Its weapon type, not rank/mark that determines your firearm's appearance. For instance a sniper rifle is going to look different from a split beam rifle, or an assault rifle. Same with the blast assaults and the various types of pistols. Energy weapon type is another biggie that determines a weapon's look. Set items like MACO/OMEGA/Nukara on the other hand all look the same regardless of rank, but then they all fire a specific energy type for that set; e.i Phaser for MACO, Disruptor for Klingon Honor Guard, and Antiproton for Omega, etc.
I don't have specific pictures to show you, but I bet if you surf around the STO Wiki, you'll find some personal weapon pictures for some of the various types of weapons.

He's right, rank does have an impact on weapon appearance. It's something that has been noted many, many times actually.
Go craft/buy a Mk I phaser and then craft/buy a Mk XII they look very different.

To be frank, I never really pay attention to what my weapon looks like. I figure as long as it shoots and kills enemies, its good enough for me. Plus to be honest most weapons never really stand out to me and grab my attention, but if you say mark does have an impact and its confirmed, I'll take your word for it and I'll look a little more carefully next time and holster/un-holster the same weapon but different mark and see if there's a difference, even if small.

It's not that easy to notice, because, well, you only use low level equipment for a very short period of time, but yes, there are differences.
I wish I had some screenshots on me, but sometimes they're not even that minor. The little holographic bits from the high level weapons are completely absent from the lower level weapons of the same class.
Yep, I can confirm for myself that it is indeed different. In game I just bought an auto phaser rifle Mk I and an auto phaser rifle Mk IX from requisitions, and the mark IX had a scope attachment and was slightly larger, while the Mark I was smaller and more simple looking without a scope attachment. I just learned something today, and that's after almost 3 years of playing... Oh my.

Indeed. If we didn't then life would be pretty boring and we'd never evolve.

The art book included in the collector's edition includes just that: a Mk by Mk progression of the various energy and weapon types. It's the artwork, though, so it might not exactly match the game models. Furthermore, it stopped at Mk X or XI, as Mk XII came later.
I've been working on one for the wiki, but it's no where near finished.
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

A couple months and a necro later, still no. :P
