Special boff w/ Space Warfare Specialist

Hey everybody,

I just completed in defense of Romulus mission and i noticed something with the rare engineering BOFF reward i got. Not going to include the BOFFs name in case people who havent done the mission yet dont want to know (spoilers).


The name of the trait is Basic Space Warfare Specialist, bonuses are listed below. It says that it is a unique trait, so does that mean only this one person has it? there isnt another BOFF somewhere that has a Superior version of it?

+4 starship manuevers
+4 targetting systems (accuracy)
+4 starship energy weapon specialization (improves criticals)
+4 starship projectile weapon specialization (improves criticals)

    Yes, he's apparently the only one I've found so far and I've been looking since I first got him :)

    The only other BOFF that had this was the Veteran Bridge Officers. If any are still on the exchange they would probably cost about as much as a Bug Ship by now.
    My Romulan Liberated Borg character made it to Level 30 and beat the (old) Defense of New Romulus with the skill point bug. :D

    Yeah. (Standard) Space Warfare Specialist is from the Veteran officers offered to players who had their currency greatly devalued in the conversion to dilithium.

    The main benefit for D'vex (who is supposed to be special because he is your characters mentor from Virinat) is his excellent ground abilities.

    I'd had him on my roster since picking him up but hadn't spent any XP on him or used him at all. When I finally decided to make some changes to take advantage of the T'Varo-R's strengths, I used D'vex, swapped in EPtS to give me two hull heals (since shield heals aren't terribly helpful when you're always cloaked), and didn't even realize he had such a nice passive bonus.

    I've been gone for the game for a long time. So from my perspective... this guy is AMAZING. I remember when we dreamed of having BOFFs with useful traits like this. If anything the BOFFs had made me addicted to Romulans.

    This guys traits are super helpful on ground missions, you actually notice the defense bonus IMHO.

    FYI, the inspirational leader space trait with it's randomness is probably better to carry around than this single doff.

    All those skill bonuses amount to a fraction of a percent difference in each category. Not really worth giving up a Subterfuge/Operative combo bonus over.
