I'm sure you have had that anxious moment when you opened a few lockboxes, biting your nails in the hope that a glorious ship came zooming out. But wether you did or not, you were left with the aftermath of loot items you DID get. I have over 100 Dilithium Claims and was sorely disappointed that even though I have to activate it to claim it, it is CHARACTER bound and not Account bound. The game seriously expects me to switch between characters when opening lock boxes to spread out the wealth. With the recent wonderful change of having LOBI crystals account bound, I respectfully suggest that these claims be ACCOUNT bound as well.
I dont mind it so much... several toons are dilithium farmers... but making these account bound would allow both mechanisms of play. I can spread out amongst several toons and refine more... or just on 1 to refine a little.
Why not just now open the lockboxes on a toon you don't mind getting the claims on? Everything else can traded too your own toons or sold.
Probably because, until just recently, lobi was character bound. I don't know about everyone else but I purposely opened lock boxes on one character because of the per-character nature of lobi. It really makes no sense to not have account-bound mining claims, especially since the big one, lobi, is now account-wide.
Star Trek: Online - Now with 100% more dinosaurs!!
I agree totally! I have over 999 of the things on just one character and there is no way I will ever be able to use them in my lifetime on just that toon.
It took over a year to get lobi account bound.. So we will see this happen sometime in the 2014 holiday season.
Let us hope not. I also have 340 on one toon. I did open some boxes on other toons to get the claims there as well, and then trade the loot to other toons I want it on, or sell it.
It could lead to a massive spike if dilithium collection - a player with an insane amount of these could create dozens of low level alts and just farm silly amounts of dilithium.
Just 20 toons you could run this on for 5K or 100 hundred thousand refined per day - in just a few days it would play back the Zen required to make 20 lvl 1 toons. They could put a lack 50 restriction but again it just leads to alt dilithium farming. They would much prefer you bought your dilithium with real cash-no big secret there - they have bills to pay to.

well, once big dilitimum rush from acound-wide claims is gone, everging go back to normal alts will be deleted/no longer used. One only musk ask for which these extra dilitium will be used ? buing zen ? not totly convienced, fleet projects ? why not . buing stuff from store ? this will dont affect market too.
And if he use insane amount of claims to buy hords of zen to create horads of alts to refine even more dilitiom....lol, it will be nice circle.
Supported.
The claims and unopened crates are bound. As it stands, they have to stay on the toon that opens the box.
I should at least be able to swap them to other toons so they can refine instead of them sitting in a long queue on cooldown.
It is not like there is an endless supply of them. They are going to run out at some point. Unless Cryptic doesn't want us opening boxes because we don't want to the claims piling up more.

This pretty much in a nutshell is why you won't see that.
One other thing, by stretching out your ability to get dilithium, they stretch out your time you need to play their game in order to get that sweet piece of gear you've been eyeing up. Spread it out among 10 characters, you could do it in two days, test the gear out, then leave in a week.
Personally I'd love to see them account bound, I have 250 sitting on one character and I guarentee she'll never use all 250. I also have 4 other charcters with smaller amounts, and 5 characters with none. Spreading those out among the 5 characters that don't have any would net me close to 50k a day vs 25k, meaning I'd half my time to get the dilithium I needed for the tiers.
Still need to grind the marks though, and the EC, but it be slighlty less of a grind.
But they WANT you to grind, grind, oh and grind some more. Lets not forget grind. Oh and grind. They want you to grind so much, I feel like Miley Cyrus' foam finger.

Not everything. Fleet mark bonus pool is bound to char and it will dropping even if a char not in any fleet.
I've got huge amount of embassy provisions which I cannot use or sell because I'm in not any fleet and it's bound to char. They are dropping from c-store DOFF packs.
I second this. I have over 650 on 1 poor guy alone. That's over 1.5 years worth. While I sure hope that sto is around long enough for me to plow through all that and much much more, it would be nice if my other toons could help cut that down.
Would it change things? I don't think so in the long run as the refine cap limits how much dil can enter the market at one. All that changes is how one gets the dil. So instead of turning in contraband 4 times a day I go mining and turn in contraband 2 times a day. Convenience for me is a good incentive to keep opening lock boxes so I can get those rich claims for all my characters.
Cheers from Antonio Valerio Cortez III, Half-Celestial Archduke of the Free Marches Confederacy.
I agree with this 100%. At one time when I used to use my ZEN for opening boxes instead of buying dilithium for fleet projects I had one character with about 70 rich mining claims and I could only use 1 a day. If they were account bound I could put them in my account bank and let all of my 14 characters share them...
I paid Zen for the extra character slots so Cryptic still got lots of my money from them and many other things. In fact I would say STO is the most expensive MMO I have ever played, far more then any subscription based game that gives access to all of the games content just by paying $15 a month.
I know someone will quote me and say I don't need to spend that much, that I can grind for everything I need, however I have spent a lot and somehow I don't even get all the perks a life time subscriber gets and I can guarantee I have spent that much and more just buying ZEN to spend in STO.
Anything like rich claims SHOULD be account bound, come on Cryptic quit being so freaking GREEDY!:(

I have over 400 of these and would love if they were account bound as my other two toons could surely use the dil.
