Content Designer Sean "Commander Ander" McCann reveals details about the upcoming Solanae Dyson Sphere Battlezone in this entry of the Season 8 News Dev Blog series.
...talking to players is like being a mall Santa. Everyone immediately wants to tell you all of the things they want, and you are absolutely powerless to deliver 99% of them.
Did we start playing Champions Online and nobody told us?
To explain that comment, CO has fallen into the trap of "no-content" updates.
What this means is when they do an so-called update, it's just a new queue.
Which isn't terribly interesting.
And to me, it looks like STO is repeating that error.
This Voth update is all about queues and mark grinding.
And that's not enough to keep me interested anymore, given that I've done the Reputation mark grind 9 times over now (3 times per character).
In addition, I really hate the 20 player actions because nobody seems to understand the concept of teamwork and they're all out to fight each other for the top spot on the leaderboard or whatever.
So, this update will most likely be me just logging in to play the Voth 5 player queue 3 times a day and going away again once I've earned my marks during bonus hour.
It's sad that STO has come down to this.

I swear I'm not trying to be rude...what's your definition of "content," and what would you like to see more of in the game?
It's a legitimate question; I don't play a lot of MMOs.
Not the one you asked the question to, but for me, I'd want something that makes me want to log in each day becuase its fun, or leads to fun, not because I have to or I fall behind on some progress bar.
Yes, all MMOs have grind, but I would say the better ones have grind that you do to get something that you can use how you want to use it. I would grind missions to get in game credits of some sort to get a ship that I could then use to fight other players, or explore, or whatever.
STO seems to be more and more grind, so that you can get things that help you gind more. Personally, my perfect update would be allowing you to explore the galaxy, and each system would have a space and/or ground map that you could wonder around and see, and then, if you wanted to, you could have a mission there. It wouldn't have to be a big mission, just a simple random mission to go here and do this with some experience and dilithium for reward. Like Nimbus, but better. Add in better crafting and a better market, and I think I would be happy.
I don't think it's going to be a que type of thing, it seems to be a 5- 20 man instance that can be joined at any point.
Once the over-all goal is achieved the particular instance you're in, re-sets itself and ya start all over again.

I have to admit, I didn't believe that you guys would actually put REDACTED into this game. Don't get me wrong, I think that REDACTED is cool, but I guess I'll have to see how you implemented it. At the same time it does make sense than the Voth would want REDACTED. I mean, who doesn't want REDACTED?
The last time I got REDACTED, it took a full course of antibiotics to get rid of it.

And you get ambushed by the respawning enemies... Hehe.... Oh well. The [redacted] built by [redacted] are definitely a new experience to fight against.
What? you didn't really think that the Voth and their pet dinosaurs were the only enemies did you?
Speaking of which, some of the Voth enemies really do require carefully thought out tactics and not just "shoot it until it dies" Sure "shoot it until it dies", does kinda work, but it's not the most efficient method.
Can we make it so that all team ground combat lets us have at least one bridge officer or two like this new adventure zone does? One of the big reasons I never liked doing ground borg stfs or other such ground combat was that I've never found hyposprays/shield charges sufficient to stay alive, I need my heal...erm... polite phrasing... buddies? yes, I need my heal buddies. Maybe I just don't know how to do it right, maybe the sci on the team wasn't properly being the heal buddy or maybe the eng on the team wasn't properly being the uber tank or whatever... but yeah, no matter what career I've gone into ground combat on, I've always found I need my heal buddies. I need 'em bad.
These [Redacted] silos sound like they could be comparable in destructive power to certain ring-shaped installations in other fiction... What fun I'm about to have!
I swear I'm not trying to be rude...what's your definition of "content," and what would you like to see more of in the game?
It's a legitimate question; I don't play a lot of MMOs.
The games that I enjoy the longest are the ones that simply provide a framework for player interaction and then get out of the way. Trading, diplomacy, PVP, these things only need a framework and do not use premade content that must be repeated ad-infinitum as a substitute. I want to engage with the universe, not replay the same structured queues over and over and over.
edit--I enjoy adventure zones a fair amount, they are fun to explore and dink around with. They seem to be generally popular until they are turned into queues then they empty out (cf Nukara)
Had the opportunity to play on Tribble... played once... don't want to burn out (although I don't see how)... looks like a fan-freaking-tastic fleet event!
wish I still had the time as years passed for tribble testing.. cant wait for this to go live!!! I will make my new recipe for Bacgorn now with Voth flavoring!!!

I'll answer that, more missions, more storyline missions, FE's, etc....
Not more ques IMO, there are enough que's right now, and they are drying up with players cause, if you keep adding more, it's just going to spread out players even more and be harder to get a que going

I share your pain when looking at what's become of Nukara. Sad that the queue was in all likelihood successful at increasing the number of players playing the missions, at the expense of the adventure zone.

An unbelievable number of STO players turn into total crybabies when asked to do ground combat. Which causes me to fear that, despite how awesome it is, this zone is going to be mostly deserted once the novelty wears off. Most of the encounters can be handled by a couple of people, but the bosses can't.
I hope the rewards are high enough to drag people in who might otherwise be unwilling.
