Is it just me whose noticed since the long patch the other day, my ships using Cannon Rapid Fire 2 are doing 2x the dmg with Scatter Volley1. Scatter Volley1 doesn't seem to have changed so what I'm trying to ask is this... has anyone else concluded that RF has been somehow nerfed to less than 1/2 of it's previous ability...? Or am I just going senile...?
A star Trek fan since first episode aired whose been playing ST on paper since about 1973 and on computers since 1979...and feels whole life has herded me to STO...!!
PS: OF COURSE Spock is my fave of all ST incarnations...!! Spock ROCKS...!! If U don't agree, you must have missed where he saves Kirk after Jim falls off a cliff he was climbing.

I am pretty new to cannons on my ship and I just made my ship into a cannon boat the other day so I am not to sure if this is correct but I would like to know

2. Its easier to do more damage when you're hitting several targets at once. This is why BFAW builds have such high damage numbers, and the same applies for CSV.
Considering those two things up there, chances are CRF is just fine (i haven't noticed any difference myself) and its just other factors (IE, randomly buffed Borg) and/or your possible inexperience with the damage numbers AOE attacks can put out.

Now I just finished getting a 2 min timer on RF2 which made me look at recharge timer for it... it is now 1 min and 10 secs... while Scatter Volley is still 30 secs...

Or worse yet... did U mean to nerf Scatter Volley as well...? If so, I guess I'm garbaging about 73 DHCs on 5 toons and just running beams... altho I have yet to check to see if my beam cruisers are screwed now too... hope not...!!

Have you put skill points into the boff power to reduce the cooldown. If you max it out, like you should, it should be 30 seconds just like scatter volley.
Yes rapid fire does less DPS than scatter volley, because it hits multiple targets. Rapid fire will do more damage against a single target, but combat parsers get DPS from every hit, even against things that outheal the damage you do. It's how FAW gets the kind of DPS numbers it can.

I have not noticed any difference in recharge timembefore or after the patch, it's still 30s. Check that you have applied skillpoints to the ability on your bridge officer.

WELL... after a little research and testing it appears all the resources and time I spent to make my Escorts high DPS was a waste... After some testing and research I've discovered that RF2 and SV2 both have reduced effectiveness combined with a new 1 min, 10 sec recharge timer... so out the window they go... fortunately RF and SV1 still work altho they are now far more powerful that RF and SV 2... seems not right somehow... or is it just me...?
I was so upset with this I didn't even bother to check RF and SV 3... I had to turn game off for the nite... at least... am I alone in thinking this is VERY unfair...?

A final note... it was a 2 min recharge timer on RF2 the last time I used it that made me take a closer look... so how does 1 min, 10 secs turn into 2 mins...? Hmmm...? Anyone...?

Are you sure? I've been using CRF2 all day long on my Avenger today and it's still at 30s cooldown just like always. The 2 minute timer is the default cooldown if you haven't skilled it up. Skill it up and you will see the 30s timer again.

I WAS skilled up in it... and just came from ESD trainer to compare the various timers... maybe it's just Fleet Defiants whom have this Problem with 2 and 3... RF1 is fine... still 30 secs... so thx... but still at a loss... :-}
BUT... U have given me hope... I will go back into game to see if I missed something... but I rarely do... altho I'm only Human...!! LOL
