Lots of whining on the forums (which I am convinced is the entire purpose of internet forums for games) about various forms of beam fire at will damage.
Reading the Voth space combat experience summary in the dev blog makes me think that they were designed to crush people for using beam fire at will. Eg:
Drones that explode after receiving enough energy damage.
Shield facings that reflect full incoming damage back at the attacker.
I'm glad that there will be more maneuvering and thought in the Voth space battles, but I can forsee the tides of whining changing drastically when Voth hit live and people start blowing themselves up. I hope they are difficult to fight and remain that way.
I imagine they're more designed to punish park-and-fire escorts. Sure, BFAW will be 'punished' by a reflective immunity matrix, but it'll only be a fraction of the shots. A lazy escort pilot, on the other hand, could be annihilated by his own alpha strike.
Also, I believe the dreadnought fires and energy charge that supposedly causes massive damage to stationary ships. Serves 'em right, I say.
Take a look at my Foundry missions! Conjoined, Re-emergence, and . . .
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

So far, the Voth in space on Tribble have been really easy. Need to still log in to check the new ground stuff.
