sto needs more flavors & thanks for trying..

I first want to say mention that Perfect World (PW) seems to be working hard to make STO a better game - and for that I commend you! The developers/programmers received a lot of flack for how the new crystalline mission played out (I added my own log to the fire). Unfortunately it seems the mission went from way to hard - to way to easy (understandable, due to the wave of neg. press). Currently there are only 2 difficulty levels in STO (normal & elite) and with diversity of the different types of players in the game such should be expanded to at least 3 (say normal, advanced & elite). On an elite borg STF with a decent group of players can finish with 9 minutes+ left on the timer - umm.. I think that is a bit too easy. For example PW programmers recently nerfed spheres in the Infected Space STF, so they don't speed all over the place - elite players should welcome a bit of a challenge. Having 3 difficulty levels might/should help alleviate complaints about missions being to hard or easy.. Also of note, I hear from others who have been on Redshirt that PW is trying out a feature to deal with trolls/lechers by kicking inactive player, ... hurray!! - that can't happen too soon! Yes STO still has plenty of umm.. features, but credit where credit is due thanks for your efforts of developers, programmers & customer support in making it better..!

Don't worry, Crystalline Catastrophe (normal) still glitches occasionally and becomes impossible to finish (especially when there are only two people on your team, including you, who have not given up already).

That's not a glitch, that's the CE buffing itself up with it's own shards. It will do that constantly and if you don't have a decent debuffer in the zone, it will get to the point where it will one shot you every single time

A debuffer isn't even necessary if, you don't let the small crystals form or make it back to the entity.

True, but having someone who can debuff is always handy and makes the match go that much smoother

They don't need more flavors. I think they're doing fine with "Rocky Road". :P

Better that than if things were making "Turtle Tracks".
"If you can't take a little bloody nose, maybe you ought to go back home and crawl under your bed. It's not safe out here. It's wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross; but it's not for the timid." -- Q, TNG: "Q-Who?"
^Words that every player should keep in mind, especially whenever there's a problem with the game...

From the beginning of the mission? No, it's a glitch. I've used Aceton Beam on the thing in these situations (when I could manage to get close enough without being destroyed) and it remained unbeatable.

I have yet to encounter such a instance like that, so I will take your word for that. At any rate, in that case I would bail and try another one.

If your using a ship with a Hanger and you have access to Delta Flyers use them. Delta Flyer's Tachyon Beam is good for debuffing the Crystalline Entity.

It doesn't happen often, and yes, that what I usually have to wind up doing, because others on the team bail, leaving even less chance of success. Fortunately, I've never gotten a leaver's penalty for this, but I wonder if the first person to bail has.

any of the draining sci powers work, tachyon beam, energy siphon, and charged particle burst.

FYI, speeding spheres, higher HP and damage output, greater quantities, etc. are not challenge, they are an annoyance and tedious.

I'm cautiously optimistic concerning the new Voth ships. That sounds a bit more like an actual challenge. ;)
