I wouldn't mind if science ships got auras like cruisers are getting that can buff or debuff those in range. someone once posted about them being electronic warfare specialists and that would be the general idea I have. for instance being able to buff effective sensor range or debuff enemy effective sensor range or making sensor shadows to lessen enemy accuracy.
