Adv Comm Array - Weapon System Efficiency - Rounding Up

I couldn't find this posted any where else, and it really isn't a bug. This ability grants a 25% reduction to Weapon Power drain.

Sounds pretty sweet, but a little caveat to users of Beam Arrays, Dual Beam Banks, and (single) Cannons. It is more accurate to say that you will experience a 20% reduction. The standard -10 drain on these weapons would result in a -7.5 drain per weapon. However, that 7.5 is rounded up to 8 due to the mechanics of the game. This can be seen in-game on the tooltip, and was tested by myself this morning.

No special abilities, other than Weapon System Efficiency was used.

2 Beam Arrays, Weapon Power dropped to 117.
3 Beam Arrays, Weapon Power dropped to 109.
4 Beam Arrays, Weapon Power dropped to 101.

That's it. I hope that someone finds this information helpful.

    It was brought to my attention ingame, that only two weapon systems actually receive the full 25% decrease in weapon power drain. Dual Heavy Cannons and Turrets. The rest of the energy weapons only receive a 20% decrease due to rounding. So I figured I would post that information as well.

    Dual Heavy Cannons: 12, with the 25% decrease becomes 9.
    Turrets: 8, with 25% decrease becomes 6.
    Dual Cannons, Beam Arrays, Dual Beam Banks, (Single) Cannons: 10, with 25% decrease becomes 8 (with in-game rounding up).

    Ah yes. I too have noticed this. I thought the observation was too minor for the devs to care about.

    I'm seeing a straight 20%. 12 becomes 9.6, 10 becomes 8, 8 becomes 6.4, no rounding. That's right off of the tooltip.

    Hmmm... if it isn't rounding, then it is only giving 20% and not the 25% as stated. Maybe someone could look into it further, but I don't think any Devs are paying attention to this thread.

    Don't worry, since this bug is for a new feature, they'll fix it. It's older bugs like the deflector officer doff that get ignored.

    Of course the power level indicator on the ship itself won't display tenths. So there you have it. You'd need a somewhat sophisticated way of measuring damage, and then converting that back to a power level to see that.

    Or you're right. A dev could just tell us.

    We should ring Satan up and see if things are getting chilly.

    I can also confirm -20% from Beam Overload.


    Activate Beam Overload, hover over a Beam weapon - post fire drain reads as "-40".
