Foundry change.... what does it actually mean?

aarons9aarons9 Member Posts: 961
"Time spent on static maps or traveling between maps will no longer be counted towards a player's total completion time for a Foundry mission."

does it mean that one map missions where you shoot a series of ships will never qualify for rewards?

im at a loss as the whole qualify for rewards thing anyway.

i made a few foundry missions.. one is quite tough, altho it never qualified for rewards, and one was really easy and it did..

can a dev please enlighten us as to what you need to do to qualify for rewards?
all i can find is the mission needs to last more then 15 minutes.. yet i make a mission that takes an hour to complete and it doesnt qualify for rewards..

i guess its a moot point anyway, since MY missions can never give me rewards :(

i posted in the foundry feedback section but it got no replies.

    It's simple.

The way it used to be:
The timer for the time spent completing the mission started as soon as you talked to the initial contact for the mission and didn't stop until you completed the mission.

    The way it is now:
The timer only counts time spent in Foundry maps and not social zones. Thus the timer for how long the mission takes to complete is frozen on Cryptic maps.

How many plays did your mission that enver qualified for rewards get(and what's its name)?

oh ok, so if you talked to a npc and then switched maps the time played in there would be counted?

if you search for my mission that doesnt qualify it says its 30m to 1hr.

you can check it out,, aaaa03 i really only built it for myself. so its not polished up or anything.

its most fun on elite and if you dont bring boffs along.. a good tip is to kill the medics first ;)

what does suck, i noticed I can never get rewards for my own missions.. so i guess it doenst really matter.

how many people have played your mission? that's the biggest thing that determines whether it counts for rewards.

EDIT: found it. Only 7 plays. needs 3 more.

well, actually you can't see the num plays only num reviews. I see 7 reviews, so it should qualify if it gets a few more plays.

Anyways, I played the first two maps, then had to quit because my computer decided to update itself.... Whoever decided those timers was a good idea was sadly mistaken...

Anyways, I'm not certain what you PLANNED for this mission to be played as, but I used a Romulan engineer who flies a D'Deridex with an Aux2Batt setup. I massacred everything except those stupid Typhoons.... Oh they died eventually but they were the only things that could KO me. My suggestion here is not to dump the reinforcements in the same spot as the initial blob, oh and spread them out more. I had to slug it out 4-on-one with battleships to clear the map.

The second map wasn't as bad, but one of the last group of feds spawned inside a box....

Anyways, feel free to expand the story. The start was kinda interesting, but there was no more story after the accept mission dialog.

its my first real foundry mission that i tried.

i had them spread out initially, but then they ended up flying off and you couldn't find them.

the 4 on one battle ships are on purpose.. its meant to be hard..
its hard to make space battles hard tho, since you are limited to the classic ships.

ill look at the map and see if i placed those last group of feds too close to something.

i wish there was more resources on the foundry, a lot of is is trial and error.

my story tho is eventually going to end up on the bridge.. but i couldnt find a way to do it other then to just click and console and beam to a generic bridge..

there is no map that has doors that i can use to go from a cargo bay to a bridge.

well, my issue with the fed battles hips is that they like to use Tractor Beam Repulsors. Singly TBR isn't bad. But it eats your hull like crazy when multiple ships do it at once.

Yeah, the bridges are all separate maps unfortunately.
