There's definitely a hole in the core of the Federation. I'd like to see a new sector block off either the west of the Alpha Centauri Sector Block or where the Delta Volanis Cluster is west of the Vulcan sector, with systems like Tellar, Trill, Betazed, Denobula Triaxa, Coridan, Rigel, Azati, New Sydney, Ferenginar, M'kemas, and Tzenketh.
Ferenginar would probably be a commerce-oriented social zone -- maybe with an auction house or something? It would also be a good place to find a better use for GPL, which doesn't seem particularly handy in the game right now for all but a few very specific uses.
I'm definitely looking forward to Season 8 and the Dyson sphere and whatnot, but I hope the devs remember that there are places that we know and love (and perhaps wanted to see more of!) from the shows and films that haven't been put in-game yet. (Speaking of which, where is the Alpha Centauri system, anyway? Isn't Alpha Centauri supposed to be the largest Human colony world or something?)

Yeah, the missing sector blocks between Sirius and AT/BU are something they've been talking about adding for a long time - supposedly it would have Tellar, Trillus Prime, Betazed and Ferenginar in it...

Judging from DS9, Betazed and Tellar should be pretty darn close to the core systems (Sol, Alpha Centauri, Vulcan, Andor). I know the Star Charts map shows Betazed way down by the Cardassian DMZ, but that doesn't seem right.
Coridan was also attacked by the Dominion, and ENT seemed to imply it was quite close to Tellar and Andor, so I would theorize it's in the same neighborhood as Betazed.
It's less clear where Ferenginar is, but DS9 suggested it wasn't more than two or three days from the Bajor system, and no one had to travel through Dominion space to travel between them.
It's worth noting that space is three-dimensional and although the galaxy is disc-shaped, it's hundreds of light-years "thick", although Star Trek (and Star Wars) has never been terribly good about capitalizing on that.

They haven't said anything for a while, but prior to LoR, Stahl said they were planning in adding the missing Federation Sectors of the Alpha Quadrant and make it into a Foundry / UGC doorways and have players build their own missions on these worlds.
Betazed was said was going to be added over a year ago.
So not sure why they stopped mentioning. Especially since it's simple work if there is no missions for the STO team to create.
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censored, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
The KDF is about half the size it should be, as well. An additional sector block 'south' of Omega Leonis would fill it out nicely, and they could redistribute some of the worlds to correspond to the 'proper' locations.
Those would all be welcome additions. I am surprised regardless of what race you pick, you still paly the same tutorial. I would like to see a Ferengi start on Ferenginar and play through a tutorial specific to them, the same for Trill, Andorian, and all of the other races.

They'd have to code a new tutorial for every race, with three starting points for each corresponding to the three careers, then work out how to get them all to ESD, the Flotilla or Qo'nos to start their respective faction's storyline... plus, they'd have to do something to fit the 'Alien' catagory and not every 'alien' is alike...
Far easier (and somewhat more reasonable) to just create the three tutorials; one for Starfleet players, one for KDF players, one for Romulan players. This is actually one area where they can't really be blamed for going the somewhat easy route, in my opinion.

I wasn't thinking that in-depth. I would say more or less just like how the Pokemon series introduces you. You start your character on your homeworld, you do some petty tasks before grabbing a transport over to Starfleet Academy, and from that point on, the tutorial is the same. With alien races, you just start them off on a generic planet and do the same. The only thing that would be different is the starting point and what you do before leaving for the Academy.

Yes, the Klingons could use another sector block, although I'm not sure what "canon" systems would go there. Perhaps it would be former Gorn space or something, in which case you could actually build it off of the Omega Leonis Sector Block (since we know Cestus III was near Gorn space from TOS).
