You may need to define what are cheats, bugs, exploits. Means different things to different people. (kit swapping, disconnecting to avoid death, multiboxing, etc)
Although, I honestly can't see anyone being willing to fork over a million EC up-front to enter a tournament. People would have to extend an awful lot of trust to whoever's holding the prize money.
Have absolutely no idea what you mean by this. Can you explain better?
EDIT: The OP did not double post. I merged duplicate threads.

Items to ban would include such things as
1. Stasis Pistol
2. Ambush DOT doffs. (Yes I know about the nerf and changes to added counters)
Who knows what else I have been out of ground pvp for awhile. But I will gather up a team if you can work a miracle and get up enough teams.
He can't exactly start a list of known exploits and cheats here on these forums, can he?
If someone is worried that their "playstyle" will be called into question, then odds are it's probably super lame and he shouldn't be doing it.
There's no reason, especially if you are a moderator, to call into question their integrity or motives. Players are quite capable of assessing the risks involved by themselves. Anyway, the ground pvp community is small and this is a known fleet.
The 5/7 thing means when you sign up, you can enlist up to 7 players. That way you have 2 in "reserve" incase someone is a no-show. I assume the "combinations" thing means once the tournament starts, you stay with your original 5 and can't swap.
Let's keep this kind of "forum pvp" and drama reserved for the spacers and their tournaments. I support the approach this fleet is trying. Bring what you got and don't be a jerk. Simple enough.
I think having a PVP tournament with playing for pride first would be better, you would get more interest.
you would also need as others have said more specific restrictions on what can and cannot be allowed.
Some people are specced already for Cryo immobiliser, so for them to respec, they will not want to enter or be bothered to burn however much for a rep respec.
But good way to stir up the Ground PVP scene
I would be keen to bring my Toon for a run on Ground

Well, you can actually make a list of banned cheap tactics here on the forums, space players do the same thing for both tournaments and bug fixes. I started another ground bug removal thread a few days ago, but so far it hasn't been paid much attention.

But you need to be more specific on the rules

I never heard of them.
Of course I do too. Ground needs something non fes boosted. But you know what can happen if these kind of tourneys are left unchecked with rules. I know we shouldn't have to if this game were balanced properly but it's not. After all do you want to see a team of 5 engy's with stasis pistols lighting bombs and mines under the whole team?
Well anyway if by a miracle you do get this off the ground I will field a team. I need to get my ground pvp legs back under me though. So I would hope and assume this would not start for at least a month. I will commit once this thread has been updated with more info and possibly some rules. But I strongly encourage you to add some rules like I mentioned a few posts ago. As much as I have been trying to play clean before I quit ground months ago I can very easily have me and my team turn this into a ground cheddar fest fast if left unchecked! My roster would be 6 players. 5 starters and 1 alternate! I would put up the 1 million chump change entry fee myself.

F'to, Tommy, Francis, Umbra, etc. If you've run into any of those players in the queues, that's who's running this tournament. I believe the player that started this thread is F'to. A tournament is an interesting idea, but I'm not interested if we're playing for EC, that takes all of the casual fun out of it.
As for rules, I'd suggest prohibiting the following items:
In addition I'd suggest the following rules:
With these rules, you should be able to get a fairly even and enjoyable match for all parties.

I seriously doubt this will go anywhere though, as the ground community is small and shrinking more each day due to the incredible lack of concern, by the game devs, for all of the bugs in ground PvP. None the less, I will start preparing a team.
"Working as intended"... 1 year later they "fix" it.
1: Almost no rules, anything goes except for logging out to avoid death or playing lopsided team numbers. Screenshot of the final score is the only thing that matters.
2: A list of mostly unenforceable blanket bans on the honor system, count on players to enforce their own behavior and if they don't, deal with it and play on. Screenshot of the final score is the only thing that matters.
THE AMAZING RULES OF ME
1: All fights are exactly 5 vs 5 (plus one ref). Everybody on every team has to promise to obey the rules.
2a: If you can't buy it from the vendor across from the tailor on ESD (or the equivalent vendor on Kronos) you can't use it. Honor system.
OR
2b: Anything goes. Cry havoc and let slip the haxx of war.
3: Logging out counts as a death, even if you disconnect for legitimate reasons. Aside from that, anything goes.
4: First to 30 wins. If neither team gets to 30 within an hour, both teams record a loss. If everybody on one team stays cloaked or dead for more than two minutes the standing team records a win and the sulking team records a loss.
5: Every team plays every other team and records a win or a loss.
6: After every team has played every other team, the team with the most wins wins. If there are tied teams, they enter a playoff circuit and repeat until there are no teams left.

That looks to me like a rule to avoid cloak-nades, cloak-sniping, and cloak-crescent-wave-pistoling from happening.
In the process, it also kills running Team Ambush Field as well as a viable method for countering Operative attacks. Cloak-nades are cheap, but every tactical officer knows that it's cheap. In a tournament you'd expect players to leave those out in the spirit of fair play. Cloak-sniping's not really a problem, it still leaves the target line even when used from distortion field. With arena maps, it will also remain rather difficult to keep a target lock due to the small and confined spaces. As for the crescent wave pistol, there is a simple solution, add it to the list of banned equipment items.

I actually like one of subu's ideas: if it's not available from a vender, you can't use it. Even that leaves a problem tho. Honor system for kit-swap exploiting? Hmmm..

Vanilla Ground PvP information
As far as this tourney rules I can live with the non use of distortion field given that as heavy tact player I know what it can do. However for the sake of crits we should be allowed to use as many pieces of the omega set as we want just not the distortion field power.
However not allowing a ghostbuster gun is a contrived fleet rule that favors the bunkering engy team and considering the op is a bunkering engy I can call foul on this. The ghostbuster gun requires a very specific line of sight and main target in the aoe to be remotely effective. If you can't reach something in the rear to create and chain of flanks and crits going forward towards you the weapon is virtually useless against players. It's an attack I have tried to master based on where I think the players are going to be 5 seconds before I take the shot and even so I can only get maybe a 40 percent successful attack rate on it.
Did you mean gear vendor for energy credits? Or maybe non bound gear that can be had off exchange? Either way I would play a balls out tourney like this Odds are most people won't want to because they can't!
