First the patch servers will be overwhelmed and downloads will slow to a crawl, with updates taking several hours for many people. This leads to much raging in the forums.
Then it will be very difficult to log in, and even those who succeed will be faced with lengthy queues of over 20000 players. This leads to much raging in the forums.
Those people who do manage to get in find the game is extremely laggy and almost unplayable, with crashes and disconnects common. This leads to much raging in the forums.
Some of those who do manage to start the new missions find they cannot complete it on the first run in a badly damaged Pakled shuttle and start to complain that it is too hard and must be made easier. This leads to much raging in the forums.
The new carrier starts to appear in PvP and is criticised as being overpowered and underpowered. This leads to much raging in the forums.
Some new and horrible bugs are discovered. This leads to much raging in the forums.
Eventually everything settles down and we all start to enjoy the new content. The forums calm down a bit.
That's not a 'prediction', that's just applying knowledge of past events to extrapolate future potentialities. It's a lot more scientific that way...

Then Season 8 launches...
.....It's the circle of life. It's the wheel of fortune.....
To risk sounding like a smug, self-rightous... well... Know what I find funny? Remember way on back when I brought up the idea of the Dyson Sphere FE being released on Halloween and everyone shouted it down, "Oh, they're already doing 'Hearts and Minds', they'd never do two special events at once"?
"Our upcoming Feature Episode, "Sphere of Influence," premieres on Thursday, October 31, 2013 and will advance the STO storyline."
Halloween, boys!
Spooky abandoned space station half-way across the galaxy with, potentially, humanoid-dinosaurs stalking you throughout the mission... Yeah, that's definately Halloween.

Fixed it for you.
I think we've been here too long, as that is too true.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

But the Voth aren't creepy, and I doubt their raptor pets are gonna start singing bonnie kin. :P
Go watch the scenes from the first Jurassic Park where the raptor's stalking them...
Do it at night... with the lights off... alone.
Then tell me dinosaurs can't be scary.

A single stand alone episode never hits the test-server, it would sorta spoil that one episode. Its less than a week away ( we've waited almost a month ) so just relax.
very true. also from what i have read, when the next season gets released, its going to be quite big, The file for startrekonline justs gets bigger and bigger. Any idea on just how big the next episode will be?
Before that, I really forget the name of the movie, kids movie, about dinosaurs that get turned into cartoon's and become good, and then bad again then good again, also partially takes place on a space ship.
I'm sure there are other references also out there, but yes it is cool this is why we do it.
So frankly Dinosaurs with laser beams, totally cool, totally plausible, totally awesome.
Warriors and scientists right on!
Inertia just means you can do Powerslides in you carrier!
I am Il Shadow and i approve these Shennanigans!

That's what I thought too until Dev Blog #13 came out today and specifically stated that the Obelisk Carrier would be level 40 and up, available to all comers during the FE premiere, then it would revert to a Fleet-only ship.
"Those who complete the mission will earn a free, powerful new ship, the Obelisk Carrier, as well as pieces of the Ancient Obelisk Technology Item set. The Obelisk can only be earned from October 31 ? December 5, 2013, and will then be available via the upcoming Fleet Spire Outpost. The box containing the Obelisk is character bound on pickup, available to all factions, and can only be opened once the character reaches level 40. Ship and items stats will be posted in tomorrow?s Dev Blog."

It should be just like the temporal ambassador mission during the 3rd year anniversary event.
Give a level 20-30 carrier that is available for each new toon that plays the mission, then give a retrofit version only available for the first week.
