separation tech

after a long time using nearly all of the ships that separate in game it seams that nearly all of the pets die very easy or nearly do nothing to help then I thought of a way to help in the short term fix. when I was replaying the romulan mission devils choice to get the blue sing core and that the part where the fleet is I saw that the hakkona warbirds were not being destroyed but being disabled and entering into a repair state. can this or should this be added to all ship pets that can separate?

all the CD's are 3 Min +, that aside their UI is awful on any "seperation" ships.

Even Photonic fleet does whatever it damn well pleases....

They need at least an AI that Follows orders, not does what ever it dam well pleases.....

    true.

i think the reason i didnt think of that is because i have a carrier/FDC for each of my races (Fed/KDF/Roms)

Except the enemy ships, you notice that?

We seperate into Saucer Seperation or Multi-Vector Assault or whatever - the resulting pet seems to have an entire crew made up solely of 'a chimpanzee and two trainees'...

Enemies like the Elachi use pets and they have no problems whatsoever...

^Words that every player should keep in mind, especially whenever there's a problem with the game...

I have long thought that separation type pets should be bumped up to the level of Klingon frigate type pets.

Furthermore very rare and ultra rare versions of the separation consoles should be added to the dilithium store and fleet stores respectively.

I prefer to call it "seperation anxiety" these days.

You have these Sep consoles, but you dont use them because they do what ever the hell they want. I was hoping when they updated the carrier stuff they would give those same commands to things that have sep pets, like the oddy, or galaxy. I didnt release a combat craft to have its own command system and do whatever it wanted to across the map, i released it to assist me in my PvE battles....

Seperation ships annoy me, because the point of seperation was to create an emergency escape vehicle. It was not meant as a combat ability. It wasn't until the Voyager's writers had the nonsensical idea of the Promethius that it was conceived of as a combat ability.

The reality is that it would actually make a ship more INCAPABLE in battle, as it would be dividing fire, dividing power, and so forth.

So, I suppose I'm ok with the separation abilities being underwhelming. They really should be.
Well, the point of separating the old Connies was just to get away from a matter/antimatter runaway reaction - dump the engineering section with the warp drive and save the saucer with most of the crew. The separated saucer didn't even have warp capability and probably couldn't fight worth a lick either.

The first real 'separation' was the Galaxy, and that was still emergency-only as you pointed out. The idea there, though was that the saucer would run away and the engineering section was supposedly at least as capable (if not more so) than the full ship. Not sure I *buy* it, but that was the gist of the story in TNG, anyway.

Later separations I don't know anything about. I only saw parts of DS9 and later

add pet commands to the seperations at least defend and attack my target.

i hate spending time to look where my chevron section of my oddy is heading jsut to find it 34 km away in khitomer elite attacking the other sides triggered cube.. alone... GET BACK HER... boom.

sometimes it comes back randomly to say HI,... and they vanishes of again to hang with the cool borg kids form the other side again.

Pet commands is a no-brainer. A separated section should be able to respond to commands at least as well as hanger pets.

I'd go a little further and suggest that the Boff assigned to the Shuttle station be put in command of the section, giving the section that Boff's abilities. Better still is to add dedicated station(s) for the separated section.
