I don't know if this is right or not, but I was on the wiki and looking at the omega force engines, it say 100% Slipstream recharge reduction. Does this mean no cool down at all?

    No, it means cooldown is cut in half.... the recharge value in increased by 100% which equated to it fully charging in half the time. The wording doesn't convey it right.

    Used to run a slipstream reduction one on mine, till I shifted to the borg engine... now I hardly bother with slipstream at all, as it's not all that much faster than my normal sector cruising speed.

    Cryptic's way of describing cooldown reductions on tooltips is awkward and confusing. They know it is and have fixed it in some places to be more understandable, but I guess they missed the Omega engines.

    Think of "X% cooldown reduction" as accelerating the recharge of the ability. 100% doubles the speed of the recharge... cutting the cooldown in half.

    Cut PWE some slack on their English! It's not their native language!

    Wha? :confused: Cryptic is in CA? Wow. Ok, I have no reason why they screwed up that info. Bad English and bad math. ;)

    It's a reflection of Cryptic's cooldown reduction formula.

    time / ( 1 + ( <Cool_down_reduction_total>% / 100 ) )

    So 100% == TIME / ( 1 + (100% / 100) ) == TIME / 2

    Wait -- they speak real English (not Valley Girl) in California? Interesting.

    {Channeling...}

    OMG, that is like, totally racist or something, y'know? Cali's not, like, all valley. Only in the low spots. Except for the beaches. They are totally not valley either.

    {That was a joke, btw...}

    Anyway, I'm going to move this question over to the Academy.

    This is a common quirk in RPGs (I posted a pretty long list of examples a while back, but the list includes TOR and WoW, among others): % changse to cooldown and cast time are usually calculated on rate of fire, not time. Many games (like the aforementioned WoW and TOR) are inconsistnet in how this is applied because of multiple types of change being worded the same way, but Cryptic actually does seem pretty consistent in it: if you treat every cooldown reduction as a RoF increase, the math works out.
