Reputation Grind

I just thought that this would be a great idea for people who play this game...and have lives to tend to as wll. We all know that the Reputation grind is massive (I'm talking about 5-6 Characters) and we all want to have all the new shiny Rep stuff that is available. So how about something that will give Cryptic some cash and also something that will help ease off the daily grind.

Method 1: 250-300 Zen Purchase "Reputation Copy"

This one time consumable device will allow you to copy all of your reputation to another character as well. e.g. I have a character with Level 4 Rep all across the board. I purchase the item. Log onto my alt. Use the device and select the character that I need to copy (Rep only!) and done. This only allows Reputation Tiers so all items purchased will not copy over!

Method 2: Long Project

This one gives access to longer projects. This means that you have 5 long projects in total and each one lets you move up a tier. This means that we won't have to log in everyday but will have to dump all the resources. The price of the long project will be 25% more and also it will take 25% longer to complete.

I honestly prefer any of these methods. What do you guys think?

We can all agree that grinding is a massive pain. There have been times that I've been more inclined not to play STO, rather than continue the grind. The only real draw is my fellow fleeties.

And there's more rep coming with S8.

For the first time I have absolutely no desire to play the game. I'm not packing it in, rage quitting, or deleting my profile, but for the first time I really have no desire to play.

    That's a first.

Is there a likelihood that I would start a new toon ever again? No. Could I be coaxed back with more shiney objects as rewards? Possibly. I'm a sucker for new things.

    What would entice me?

More options with STF's; seasonal STF's, special annual stf's; random content STF's.

More series-type missions; serialized story lines where a new element to the mission comes out monthly. That's right - I suggested MONTHLY SERIALIZED CONTENT.

Move the clock forward by 10 years. Yes - real progression in the timeline. Move the ingame calendar ahead 10 years for every 2 years of real time.

Fleet Control; let me have multiple ships in combat at the same time.

Research & Development: Give me the ability to build almost anything. Let me design my own weapons, using materials that are account bound exclusively.

The Rep grind sapped all desire to play slowly. It started at T1 and by half way through T4, when I ran out of expertise, I just fell apart. I love this game but I just can't bring myself to do the grind, especially when I have over 20 characters.

Kind of ironic that a system that was intended to keep people playing is driving them away. I think players of this generation are no longer carrot chasers. They see the stick and the string and stop because it isn't worth it.

I have many characters... many many... probably way too many. The game isn't as alt-friendly as it could be, especially in regards to reputation. There also seems to be a huge emphasis on new ships without a corresponding emphasis on things for you to do in those ships. If were going to get a new C-Store ship every 3 months, a new lock box ship, more lobi ships... can we have more missions? I don't think we need to move the clock forward that far, but some sense of continuing story would be nice to have on a regular basis (bi-weekly, maybe? Or perhaps once a month?) And something with the reputation system... perhaps have an account/faction "trait" that lets alts accumulate a rep at a faster rate, maybe stacks with the number of characters that have hit the maximum reputation level (to a point)?

I would support having a reputation copy-over via the C-Store. Either that or make the reputation system by account rather than character.

That idea is amazing but Cryptic don't like helping us. They just want to make us all leave the game ;) . If it was account much more people would actually give a TRIBBLE about the Reputation System but as of now....most casual players don't even bother creating one project. It's funny how Cryptic say they listen to our feedback and alter the game when most of the threads here state that the grind is too much. Too bad ...... :(

They listen to teh feedback, their dilemna likely is there is nothing they can do. They invested in the common MMO rep system and they have to gut it to accomplish what the player base is asking. That is a major rework and with balance, skill tree, and other reworks necessary they might just have to plug ahead with a system that is flawed or abandon it all together and negate their work on the reputation missions.

I think people need to be understanding that a mistake/poor game design takes a very long time to correct, and there are parts that we may just have to accept because a fix just isn't feasible. Its not like the devs have unlimited resources and the F2P model might make real large fixes harder because they don't generate micro transactions. .
