Leaver penalty for failed eSTF on warp-in?

What kind of BS is this?! I join an eSTF (CSE). Upon warp-in the mission has already failed. No, not just the Optional, the entire misson! So, my Tact boff tells me:

"The Kang has been destroyed, Captain.

I'm detecting more Borg reinforcements on the way. Recommend we leave the system while we still have the chance!

You have failed to save the I.K.S. Kang.

If you wish to attempt this Special Task Force again, you will need to depart the system and restart."


So I then leave. And then Cryptic has the audacity to give a 1 hour leaver penalty to boot! Defuq?!

    He was obviously being sarcastic. The system, as is, is in need of a retrofit. Unfortunately fixing things/upgrading does not have a rng prize wheel attached and can be marketed, therefore better luck next time. Try relogging for better results. Etc. Etc.

    I doubt that anyone would disagree with you. I also doubt that it will be fixed anytime soon.

    it sucks you joined a failed mission.. its happened to me.

    that mission as ALWAYS been bugged about leaving..

    it says you can leave but, you gotta wait for the popup.


    if you use your mini map icon to leave, even if the mission is over.. you will get a penalty.

    Well, I hope you take that hour to learn to know better than to be randomly placed into a failed mission and then attempt to leave it after it has failed.

    My mood has improved to a degree where I can see the sarcasm again. :O

    Actually, I *have* learned from this. Which is to say, when the timer says you need to wait ca. 43 secs to join, and you immediately get a pop-up to join directly, after all, that's fishy (and probably indicative of someone else in the match having left prematurely, using you for 'filler').

    I'll keep that in mind for next time.

    Shhhh, I think that revamping a already overpopulated class' most recent tact ship is more important than say... stepping back and looking at the crappy skill systems that is gimped past recongnition due to past skill specific nerfs. To me, the only class working as intended is actually tact, Science & Engineering ships need some long overdue TLC. But hey Voyager season is around the corner, maybe all other classes might get lucky... most likely not...

    This is why I mentioned it... Tanks being alphaed in pvp, non tanks with ALOT more tank than the tank itself. Doesn't it feel weird that? Escorts tanking several ppl focusing them down. and with the exhaustion of CD's... cloak. Fix these flawed mechanics pls, make players be able to hold their own but dont turn them into fleet slicing ships that cant be stopped by any means. Too many consoles(new ships popping without revamping previous stuff so it actually gives every player no matter the range a chance.

    And it just happened to me again. :(

    Cryptic, I'm getting tired of this. Again I'm banned for an hour to rejoin any queue. I'm tired of being punished because you can't be bothered to fix bugs.

    Actually, it's not even a bug: Cryptic is doing this deliberately. Somewhere along the line they decided it would be a good idea to 'help' the remaining team to have another candidate in queue join an existing team when someone leaves. How very magnanimous of you!

    Except, you do so at the expense of innocent others in queue, who now either have to join a mission with a Failed Optional; or, worse, a Failed mission altogether. The latter is truly far worse (set aside the daftness of having *anyone* join a Failed mission), as there's no way to leave a Failed mission, other than incurring the Leaver Penalty.

    Whatever genius thought of this briilliant 'filler' plan, either fire him, or have him 'unthink' it.

    1st time I seen this bug was well over a year ago and seems to always be the Kang mission. only one its ever happened to me on. just wait for the popup exit. take a bit but much better than the 1hour leaver.

    I waited 10 minutes; popup never came. We even destroyed all remaining enemies.

    Happened to me too, some ninnies blew a cube early and the kang then went to attack the other cube leaving just me to attempt to protect the kang from 4 waves of 3 each borg raptors alone, missiong failed and upon leaving after fail for the penalty... basically seems the mission is applying the penalty if you leave without completing it, as such I would not presently recommend pugging it given that a mission failure right now on the map means you will get banned from PVE queue for an hour.

    I believe I was in that mission when you joined, really messed up you can't leave if it fails like that.

    THIS HAPPENED TO ME TOO!!!:mad:

    I joined an STF Cure elite, and was instantly in - only to find KANG was dead.
    The text box says you can continue the mission normally; but it doesn't *END*!!!

    IT WON'T LET YOU LEAVE!!!

    Tonight, so many people where intentionally sabotaging STF's I lost count.
    I will start naming and shaming because everyone knows crapdick stupidios doesn't have a customer service department or any concern outside of MONEY. This kind of TRIBBLE makes me want to murder every last one of them, after forcing them to watch me run over their children with lawn mowers first - so they know what they are going to get.

    I would like in game punishment for those who sabotage an STF!
    Go ahead and kill a Cure cube with all the nanites still up on the others, or "Pretend to gaurd Kang"...
    Go ahead and blow one infection generator on both sides.
    Go ahead and use tractor beams or photonic detonations to push probes the the kithomer timewarp.
    Go ahead be a scince captian in an escort and enter an STF with One DHC, One quantum torp, and one beam array equiped... (the torp and beam where rear facing on one Dilhole)

    go ahead and fail the STF for everyone else...
    Just know, that If I knew who you were in real life: You would live only as long as it takes for me to make you watch the death of everyone you love in some of the most horrid ways imagineable.

    ^^^ Wow... just Wow. You know they have meds that will help with how you feel.

    Might I suggest a solution to fix this problem with events losing 2 or more players to Cryptic. Do not bring anymore from the queue. Fail the mission when there is 3 players. Fail the mission with NO cooldowns on queueing up again. Make this per team for 20 person events and if the team fails the event becomes 15 person and that team's effort for end goal is removed and nothing else spawns where that team should be, all remaining NPC where that team should be is removed and the remaining team is removed from the map to queue up again.
